You can install the adobe version via Iceweasel's own interface |
Gnash and Adoble flash plugins GUIs are different enough to notice. And youtube works with Gnash |

| Sad thing to hear for you guys. But you have to see the other side of the coin.
This means to me, that whenever someone does not do his job he won't get an infinite number of extra 2 weeks. Actual decisions have been made. Hard Decisions. So take that as a moral victory of losing Sputnik.
Happy new year to ya. _________________ Yes I own an Amiga. A non-upgraded A500 that is unpacked once every 3 years.

Adobe have released documentation for both Flash and Air support.

This won't magically gives you an Amiga player...
Guess what ? CSS/JS specs are open as well... Where is this Amiga browser ? _________________ http://www.warpdesign.fr/

The CSS/JS browser for Amiga OS is called OWB.
Whilst Adobe releasing the documentation for Flash won't magically bring a Flash player to the Amiga, it does make it more likely. If anything, it makes it possible for open-source efforts (e.g., Gnash) to make a fully standards-compliant Flash player.

I doubt there would be an Amiga developer who would go to develop Flash player to the Amiga. Sputnik and OWB are based on open source projects and without it there would be no CSS capable Amiga browser. AWeb still does not support CSS, Ibrowse still does not support CSS, Voyager still does not support CSS and I none of those are ever going to support CSS. _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook

Your point exactly? I don't particularly care if a browser is open-source or not. Likewise with flash. Before Adobe released the documentation, open-source projects had to reverse engineer flash scripts, resulting in slower progress and poor support. Now that they have the documentation, making it fully standards compliant is much easier. Porting Gnash or swfdec is a possibility (although swfdec's audio relies on GLIB).
Note that the swfplayer that we do have is also based on an open-source package.

| With cross-reference to this thread:
Everyone knew Marcins stance on AmigaOS 4.0 before the bounty was started. And yet you all "fell" for it and cheered him?!
You are not the ones who should complain, and blame his stance towards AmigaOS 4.0.
Yet, Marcin agreed to do it, didn't he? I'm sure he wouldn't agree to a bounty if he had no intentions to fulfill it.
Well, if you guys can't give him a few more months.. It's your loss, and yours alone. |

I'm sure that Marcin had the intention to port it to OS4, but just lacked the interest to actually get round to doing it. He had a deadline and missed it by over a year, so it makes perfect sense that it is cancelled.
