hardware OS4   hardware OS4 : New consignment of AmigaOnes soon available
   posted by ssolie on 17-Jul-2006 20:58:25 (16140 reads)
We recently received delivery of a small consignment of AmigaOne motherboards for testing prior to redistribution among all AmigaOne dealers worldwide.

Update 18 May 2006 Quantities are limited and it appears that the CPU modules (G4 1.1 GHz for the XE boards) will not be available before the end of June 2006.
We will, of course, need some time to test them and prepare the new configurations, but you will very shortly be able to order a reconditioned AmigaOne from your favourite dealer!

Warning: quantities will be limited.

Don’t forget to bookmark this page for the latest info.

Update 16 July 2006 Some µA1-Cs are already ready to go out to dealers. News of the G4 modules is expected some time next week. Those wishing to trade in their existing G3 800MHz modules should contact their local dealer for a possible trade-in (not all dealers may offer this).

News taken from Amont Informatique.

I am a games developer (of course -and sorry about that, but- for other markets) and I would like to have to have an AmigaOne (preferably, as speedy as possible, as it would be for a state of the art 3d game), so I could port some of the projects I am already developing.

I didn´t know about these kind of offers before. Can you still offer it?

@vision

If you want to code 3D games it is better to wait for new hardware i suppose.

Trolling and baiting removed. Rgeardless of it you personally feel if you've started it or not, you're perpetuating it by continuing down this path. Knock it off, this thread has had ENOUGH.

Back on topic
If I were a dealer I would of course sell these as expensive as possible - 1500 EUR or so, since
someone will be stupid enough to pay anything. However I don't think this will be the case for
a refurbished board. I would guess around 1000 EUR incl VAT with this 1.1 GHz G4. About the
warrantees I would guess your dealer gives you a few months. I don't think there are any laws
covering refurbished and used goods' warrantees. No 12 months anyway. No car dealer would
ever give me 12 months warranty on a used car..

Who are these Amont Informatique? I've never heard of them before May when they updated
their site in the first place. New company?

@ssolie
Thanks for bringing that item to our attention.
I'd be tempted to buy a spare A1 to have a backup, but with all the demand and such limited supply I think it's better to let someone else who hasn't had one yet get their dirty paws on it finally

THIS IS A NEWS ITEM THREAD!

All of you calm down now or I will get out my big stick! You don't want me using my big stick, now do you? It will render some of you unconscious for at least a day...

So stick to the topic stated. If you MUST discuss other things, go start your OWN thread!

"blueies" when responding to Realize. It's his comment and not the whole fsckin'

1-Because the majority of blue users which register here, act like 10yo lamers. You can't blame Rogue FOR A REPLY TO A TROLL, when everytime he post here is atacked.

2-If you are smart enough you should understand point 1 and be costructive, showing Rogue taht not all blue users on AW.net are lamers. Your post (quoted) IS NOT A GOOD PLAN.

3-When a red troll post like realize IT IS TAKEN AS AmigaOS comunity, you can check Amiga.org, Amigaworld.net, ANN.lu... it is wrong, but you can't be shocked if it happens to your side as well. If we got more good users instead of noob like Realize...

Why dont you read my old threads in support of OS4. I support the Amiga community and Operating system, not faulty hardware and shady corporate practices.

We've dealt with this issue before, however I will re-iterate.

You do not respond to attacks, you use the report button and we'll deal with it. Responding is as much attacking someone else as the initial "attack". As such you will be dealt with on the basis of your so called response. So if you abuse/flame or in any other way break the T&C's then you will incur a penalty that restricts your posting.

Moderators: If you want to block me for this posting, please go ahead. I'm on vacation anyway (the first time in seven years) so I don't really care, but I am going to reply to this anyway.

@ironfist

You don't have any idea what you are talking about. Just go look at Moobunny, ANN, or any such site to see negativity towards me, and see what kind of insults I have to swallow from the blue brigade, and try to put yourself in my shoes. If I get called names and insulted by those that MAKE MorphOS, I cannot keep any positive stance versus MorphOS anymore.

I don't have anything against MorphOS users. I have tried to help MorphOS users that had trouble with our games, even though we do not support that officially. What I do have a problem with is people edit - removed names that never skip a chance to promote their own blue-tinted agenda, try everything to offend our side (down to simple things like calling it "Teron" instead of "AmigaOne" - I am sorry, but that is merely done to offend). I have a problem with people that spread forged pictures of Hyperion programmers having gay sex (don't say that doesn't exist - it does). I have a problem with know-it-better type of troll that constantly try to tell me what to do.

If you would even remotely know what I am talking about, maybe it would give you the creeps too, but in a totally different way.

I have a more open mind towards Pegasos than you might think. I don't have an open mind towards MorphOS and the people behind it (the makers, before you try to twist my words again).

You support OS 4? THAT would be news to me. Is it support to propose people to buy a Pegasos instead of an AmigaOne? Is it support to call "Teron" boards broken and promote how much better the Pegasos is?

Do you call this support:

Does Amont Informatique have any account here where they could maybe post some
details regarding the issues raised? Yes, warranty. By warranty I mean what insurance
your dealer has if any custormers complain.

This community is so tight and many of you know your dealers personally. Simply put;
Anything concerning your dealer concerns you too.

I understand that Amont Informatique won't give you any price quote since that is usually
a secret between the individual dealer and Amont. If Versalia would buy 10 boards and
GGS-Data buy 2, I'm pretty sure Versalia will get a discount.

However, they could say how many boards will be available. That is one thing that's better
to be open with, than having people here fighting whether it's 10 or 50 boards.

Warning being given to ALL thread participants

That's quite enough. I've edited several posts now, after hoping we could all somehow manage to act like we're older than 12 or so.

Once someone is attacked, it's very likely they're going to respond, but bear in mind, the wording of such responses often simply aggravates the situation...and it's pretty obvious when/where that's the case.

If it's not directly related to the News Item, don't bother posting- further crap in this thread WILL be deleted without warning, and/or suspensions given if deemed appropriate. Show some class, and consideration for people and keep it on topic, without turning every News Item or thread into a 'my XXX is bigger than yours' pissing contest.

NOTE- I only edited the past two pages of this thread. The above is meant for EVERYONE, not only those who may have had their posts edited.

You know, the response over on Amiga.org doesn't include all this flaming and negativity. It's all neutral or positive. Kind of strange seeing as this is supposed to be THE forum for Amiga OS4 and A.org isn't.

I am sorry, but my idea of baiting seems to be different than yours. I just asked Realize to back up the claim that he made. I presented a few posts that speak a different langauge, therefore I only think it is natural to ask for a counter argument.

If you think that is unreasonable, then please block me, because I will continue to do just that.

I agree with you about all the baiting against you in this thread but about the attack against you guys, from the MorphOS makers, I hope that you have not forgotten Ben Hermans' prolonged vicious attacks against MorphOS and its makers, to see how this story started. No single person can claim that they didn't happen.

But anyway, to everyone in this thread:
