Announcement   Announcement : AmigaOS 4.0 for Classic Amiga available now
   posted by Lecta on 29-Nov-2007 23:02:40 (68066 reads)
Bassano del Grappa (Italy) - 30th November 2007

ACube Systems Srl is pleased to to announce the immediate availability of the awaited AmigaOS 4.0 for Amiga 1200, 3000(T) or 4000(T) with a PowerPC CPU, developed by Hyperion Entertainment VOF. It is now possible to benefit of all the features of this new AmigaOS release, an operating system famous for its efficiency and small footprint.

AmigaOS 4.0, thanks to its power and optimization, succeeds in using at the maximum even systems running at 160Mhz, allowing the multimedia performances and the usability everyone expects from AmigaOS.

The interest expressed towards this new AmigaOS version is so high that, actually, orders are twice than expected. This shows that the Amiga community is still strong and that it enjoys and support the efforts made by Hyperion Entertainment VOF and ACube Systems Srl to develop and promote concrete and powerful products.

It's possible to order AmigaOS 4.0 for "Classic" Amigas directly from ACube Systems or from a reseller listed on page

Congratulations to Hyperion for a very hard and long work!!! :) Thumbs up!

I have one small question about cover design:
why did you [your designer] changed Amiga logo and put all possible Photoshop effects on AmigaOS text [on front box]?

Long time ago I have seen this image:

http://www.relec.ch/AmigaOne/images/OS4_2.jpg

and OS4 prelease gfx looked very nice, without many effects on text, with real Amiga logo. Now there is different large and bolded font + light outline glow + dropshadow so everything looks more like a toy than something serious I always looked for in Amiga computers.

@DJNick: They changed design as they want to be as cool as you :)
The old design is more clean and mature design so your right. But the new one is more happier. (i belive.... im unsure...)

So where is the news on amiga.com ? (u see how much they love us. f'Dem)

@djnick

I understand that you do graphics work yourself, maybe you could do some designs yourself and if ACube like it they can use it for subsequent releases?

Congratulations on the release!!

Documentation only consists of the quickstart guide? Is that only for installation or does it feature more stuff?

Could it have something to do with the court case going on, perhaps? About trademarks, logo's and dirty laundry?

@Troels

The documentation covers more than just the installation, Rogue commented on this recently.

To my taste - this one is completely OK
http://www.acube-systems.com/eng/images/advertOS4Classic.jpg
[but I`d remove any dropshadows - they are just too strong]...

I do gfx, yes, and after a years of work you can see many things that distants pro stuff from the other ones... amiga.com website "design" is, for example, a disaster... :(

Quite possibly. Probably a desire to not want to dig too deep a hole - just in case.

Besides I never liked the Escom Amiga logo. We could do with a new one.

@LOU

Yes because the CD32 was designed for PPC! Come on man, my SX32 running an 030-50 got unhealthily hot. You even try and stick a PPC in there and you're gonna have a nice toasty fire to have an early xmas sing song around!

Finally! Congrats to all involved!

Shouldn't this news item be bumped? It's already way down.

Hi,

yes ... i musst agree djnick ...

This come in my mind first time i see the final Box ...

I am VERY happy to have OS4-classic for sale.

But the Box is not sooo nice from the GFX point of view as the previous
version ... [to many effects]

And i give gladly my Amiga desktop/mid-Tower Design to ACube/Hyperion
to built with it a new and unique Amiga
[it can improved too .. but with the stall of Troika i have only little
time invested .. have other projects]

R-TEAM
