@Leo

*yawn*

I'm pretty sure Hyperion answered the Peg question, at least in the transcript I read...

Have the lead components been removed from the latest batch of Pegasos boards then ?

Or is there going to be another wait for a fresh run of Peg MoBo's ?

BBRV is not going to spend out if there's not much chance of getting a good return...

They are far too sharp (smart) to let that happen !!

Especially when someone offered to pay you the licence,...

AFAIK, it was Amiga Inc who `ignored` Acill´s request, not Hyperion.

You might be interested in these links

link three

Not sure if I should post the 3rd one but then again it´s no secret.

@Seer: come on... Do you really believe this did not happen just because Amiga, Inc. ignored Acill ?

And this would mean Amiga, Inc. choosed to ignore Acill and not to ignore Troika ?

I don't think *anyone* in the Amiga "market" is in position to make "defamation"...

Leo.

Are you saying Hyperion stopped A Inc from replying ?

And this would mean Amiga, Inc. choosed to ignore Acill and not to ignore Troika ?

Well.... We still don´t know if Troika (Or ACK) have a licenses (IIRC)

I really enjoyed the session. Thanks guys for the news.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the Petunia, Warp (New bits), fixed USB bits & AmigaInput additions.

The Warp3D mixed with the AmigaInput should mean that we'll get to see a new FPSE soon... Hopefully anyway!

@amipal

And a classic feel to playing games with E-UAE with a Joystick (Sensible Soccer on A1 anyone?) And a new version of MAME. Arcade style joysticks are calling!

Eventually at least

IMHO, it's not only great news.
I'm quite dissapointed.
OS4 is almost finished but won't be released cause of non avalaible hardware they said.

Why don't they make a release for Amiga classics?
There are plenty around and this could provide them some additionnal cash for the next stage.

I agree with this.
Ok, i know that hyperion has a point but we have a point too.
A1 owners are enjoying OS4 for years and they are even waiting for an update next month. We, on the other hand, can only dream about it... This is not exactly fair. And i really don't understand all this fuzz and excitement about PDAs. Personally, i don't think that it is even on-topic.
Anyway, Amigans are known for their patience..

And don't tell me "classic Amiga": Where can you buy those ? Or PPC accelerators ?

They are not very hard too find, you know. You can buy those in several Amiga shops, ebay etc. and in a good condition, too.

Well about a year. And what's not fair? The fact that some people forked out for the hardware whilst it was still available?

I'm afraid I cannot answer that question, BUT we are working with several hardware companies (Troika is one of them but not the only one) that want to provide hardware ofr AmigaOS4.0

Seems like they have a licence...

A very informative interview... it's nice to hear about the movements being made, and some light at the end of the tunnel?

@Leo:

It is possible that conditions have changed since the time Acill asked for a license (contracts expire, laws change, eg the new RoHS laws that Jens Schoenfeld needed to accomodate, that sort of thing). It is also possible that Troika offered to write the OS4 code (HAL, drivers) necessary to get OS4 to run on their hardware, making it a lot easier for Hyperion to pressure Amiga Inc into giving Troika a license. Acill offered money, but Troika offered time. Hyperion probably needs time more than it needs money right now (woudln't it be embarrassing if the PV or Troika boards were ready but the OS4 driver set was not done yet?) It was quite clear to me that they were very open to the idea of OS4 running on Peg2 hardware, but the time was just not right yet.

I hope Acill (or someone else) tries again after OS4 Final is released, the more hardware we have OS4 running on, the better.

The problem I heard about from Jens was the new WEEE directive, not the older RoHS directive (which has been "recently" expanded to cover the use of lead in electronics and ammunition). WEEE requires anyone who sell electronics to also accept older electronics of the same type for recycling. And from what I can gather, Germany implemented this in a very rigid fashion.

Jens manufactures in quite small batches, so I don't think RoHS is going to be that much of a problem for him. Any batches produced after 1st of July 2006 needs to be lead-free (as well as free of a few other toxic elements like beryllium and bromium etc), but that just means he's gotta redesign his each of the boards in time for their next batch...

I think most of his boards are beyond end of life expectancy anyway...

Yes, I agree with you yoodoo2. Everyone had the same opportunity to get in on the Early Bird Offer. If he could not afford to or choose not to that is his affair. He should not come visiting this upon those of us who did take advantage of the offer. Everyone had the same chance.

I find this post empty and quite hostile. I didn't said that i had the intention to buy an A1, mostly because of its price plus the huge post expenses. I am talking about the release of the OS4 for the classics. That's all.
