@ AmigaPapst :
Please drop 2000$ of support out of your pocket instead of babbling out, thanks...

@AmigaPapst

IMO your very very wrong here. AROS is very neat and progressing well,
but I guess you never tried a Live CD so you don't know.

While others fight over spilled beans we have something to look forward
to, but if the name is important to you then I understand.

What is important to me is that it runs on all kinds of hardware,
(laptops especially) and it's not a minus that it's open sourced too.

No.

But your opinion would count for more if you had donated substantial $ to OS4 software development.

Otherwise, as someone else just said, it's just babble.

Hello!

Can someone explain me in a few and simple words what UAE intergration is?

Let's suppose that I install AROS. If it has UAE intergration that means that I can istall straight forward every piece of (68x based) software which run on my classic Amiga 1200? Without calling any "external" software (e.g WinUAE on the Win side)?

And how is this possible? Via a "transparent" emulation? That means that I do not notice the emulation runnig? Won't that have any speed impacts on the system?

Thanks!

I think this is a step in the false direction. AROS has nothing to do with Amiga, sorry.

Yes, it has so little to do with the Amiga that a part of it was used on OS 3.5/9 and classic owners patch their AmigaOS installations with parts of it. I cannot possibly think of anything that has less to do with the Amiga than AROS.

This is not correct, for Amithlon only had a 68k JIT, this is a full blown emulator.

I would prefer amithlon-like integration, or like 68k programs are used in OS4 or MOS. Better have more speed but only for system programs, than less speed but with direct-banging support.

Nothing wrong with that. I'd welcome an Amithlon replacement. I use Amithlon every day on my laptop at work but it'd be nice to replace it with something a little more up to date.

What some people dont seem to understand, is that if AROS is successful, this will be a good thing for OS4 and MOS !
AROS use the sampe API. So if a Developer develops something for AROS, it is not that much work to port it.

AROS has a good chance to get a Userbase, that is a lot bigger than it is today. Just imagine AROS with integrated 68k Emu on some Magazine CDs ! People may want to try it and run some old apps they used in the good times of the Amiga. The hurdle isnt high. Dont pay any money for special Hardware, just boot from a Live-CD

I was under the impression that I could not use AROS to develop graphics drivers for OS4 because the API was different. Same for MOS. But I could do that under Amothlon if I had a computer that it would run on. If AROS can do this, I'd like to learn more...

So would I. I was disappointed when Amithlon went unsupported. Yea I know about the kernel development, but there's still a lot of Amithlon that is frozen in time. I'm told I have to track down ancient PC hardware on Ebay to run it on instead of something easily bought new today. I don't want to have to carry around a stack of laptops for different things, I want to pick one good one that does everything. If AROS evolves into something equivalent which also allows me to work on and test hardware drivers "native" to AmigaOS, I'd be very very happy with that. Running AmigaOS in a manner that does not show the host OS or feel like I'm inside of UAE (whether I am or not) would be great.

It's good if AROS has finally 68k emulation.

But I think integrating euae with Linux is better choice (much much better hardware support and I don't think AROS has much native software anyway). I was wondering if someone could make an AmigaOne emulator !?! *me runs and hide

definitely a great news for AROS folks but as an OS4 user (and e-uae donator) I would rather see Rich spending time on increase performance under current amigaone hardware (JIT for PPC anyone )...
