Wrong tracking and kerning here, while the X1000 uses a different font. I know Acube's one is just a photoshopped image, but hopefully we'll end up having some consistent visual identity in the end.

The guy responsible for picking that case for a computer called AmigaOne 500 should be fired immediately. Seems like a survey would have been a good idea, before releasing this news with THAT CASE!

Remove it quickly Acube and buy the small X1000 cases instead

I promise you I will never buy that ugly computer you just made

The case is a LC-POWER 2039MB (Micro ATX): 35,5cm*13,7cm*40,7cm

http://www.lc-power.de/index.php?id=114&L=1

I don't like it either.. I'd love to get one of these:

Seems perfect to me for an AmigaOne 500..

What I would really really like was someone to handle A1 repairs without having to sell a limb to get a machine fixed...

@amigagang

I also liked the Relec cases, but the ones that they had before was nicer I think.
They had som cool small red cases, but now the "Red One" isnt even red.

Something like the 916BRF case:

I have not found these for customer sale yet, only for buying large numbers from the factory.

AmigaOne 500? Sounds good.

I also like the case with "similar to original" AMIGA font. Now, they only need integrated UAE with KS ROMs and it will be truly heir to the old Amiga line of computers.

However, my money is still waiting for the X1000.

I womder if they licensed the AmigaOne name and given ACube is known for the Sam, why?

Also, I would dispute the claim that it's the first AmigaOne since 2005 as the X1000 was in existence before and according to my net search (if Wiki is accurate) was presented at the same time as the Sam460. That would mean, ACube didn't really present the first AmigaOne since 2005, since AEON presented theirs first.

Also, if consistency is wanted, then why isn't it called the AmigaOne X500?

Apart from that I would dispute it being an AmigaOne 500 at all, not because the mainboard isn't based on an AmigaOne named board, but beacuse there is no keyboard! I'm sorry, but without a built in keyboard this isn't a 500. Being it's not called an AmigaOne A500 perhaps I could let this go, but they then claim the AmigaOne 500 is the complete, ready to run solution so it comes back. Not to mention the shape is all wrong, it should be in a wedge.

Another thing, what's with the FILE N.1? Is there a second file on the wayy? This suggests there is a FILE N.2 in the works.

Finally, it just seems obvious to me, why they'd want to relasse a machine with an AmigaOne name. They want to futher enforce the fact that the X1000 still isn't out yet and you can buy their hardware now! Wow, tough call.

because it lacks "x" which is most likely x-mos xena ort whatever.

@thread:
i dont really know if this newsitem is of any factual importance, asaid of nitpicking about the "unified brand", about the looks of the case and the font choosen. nothing changed really. no new product has been released, only one already existing was bundled in another way and rebranded. so what the fuss about, even if exactly this was expectable?

@ nikosidis @ Honda @ wawa

A lot of ACube customers would have liked the Sam series to have been branded AmigaOne from the start. So on one level it's just an existing product being rebranded; on another, it's the brand finally (belatedly) going to what AmigaOS 4.1 users feel is a worthy bit of Amigan kit. It's not a new product, but it is an "At last!" moment for quite a few Amigans.

Obviously, if you neither own or admire a Sam board, *or* don't care that much about branding, it's a non-event :) but it's certainly news. The fact that the existing Sams and AmigaOne brand have been united (which I think is long overdue) means that you can now buy new AmigaOne-branded hardware with AmigaOS 4.1 for the first time in ages.

The news is not big as expected, but nice "round up" of offer from Acube - as well as joining AmigaOne brand that now gets a bit stronger.

As the question of support by OS4: Sound and integrated gfx and other components are well supported by AmigaOS 4.1.3, while RadeonHD works yet only for 2D (WB, WB games, productivity apps). Seems like RadeoHD driver will wait for OS 4.2

I agree, even if it had a legacy A500-style price tag of £399 it wouldnt be much better - but that price is just showing how insane the "official Amiga" PPC based market is.

I think it's good that they are using the AmigaOne name as it brings brand consistency but I'm not particularly keen on the case they used. I also prefer the italic font in logo and feel it looks nicer than the A-EON logo.

Now thinking about it Acube should have branded this as the AmigaOne 460 .
Makes more sense as it powered by a Sam 460ep motherboard rather than by linking it to an Amiga 500.Yeah Brand the machines by the names of the motherboards that power them.

@Spectre660 : ah yes, like AmigaOne PA6T-1682M ?

Seriously, great move from ACube. AmigaOne is becoming the new line of Amiga computers and it's good news.

This is something I've been waiting for month (visual identity. only Relec managed to give AmigaOne and Sam computers a real Amiga identity) and i'ts now how it will be.

Two computers : AmigaOne 500 and AmigaOne X1000. A real line of computers

Just thought, is this Acube exclusive? or will Amiga Kit Sam460 complete systems and relec complete systems be allowed to be re-branded AmigaOne 500.

I suppose at the end of day it doesn't really change much, just wondered.
