Hardware News   USA - A4000 repairs, RGB video adapters, Video Toasters and Flyers
Hardware News posted by logicalheart on 30-Nov-2007 19:20:50 (5618 reads)
The company "Video Lab" offers the following services:

Amiga 4000 motherboard repair.
(audio repair, battery replacement, and more)

Sales of used Video Toaster 4000, and Flyer.
Each unit costs between $100 to $300 depending on condition.

New custom made RGB encoders $125.
This connects to the Amiga's RGB port and encodes to 3-way RGB component output. This is handy for many new HD monitors and televisions with component inputs.

I am posting this for Ed Jeffries who does not have an Internet connection. I've sent him motherboards for repair, and always get good service. He also used to do repairs for Software Hut.

Announcement   DiscreetFX has Video Toaster 4000 cards available for select OS 4.0 Developers
Announcement posted by DiscreetFX on 30-Nov-2007 2:38:04 (3644 reads)
Chicago, Illinois – November 30th, 2007

Now that Amiga OS 4.0 is available for Classic Amiga, Visual FX company DiscreetFX LLC Inc., is willing to work with select members of the Amiga OS 4.0 development team to insure future compatibility with the Video Toaster 4000 card. This includes free Video Toaster 4000 cards to members of the team that have Amiga 4000/T computers running Amiga OS 4.0 and have an available video slot.

DiscreetFX's CEO stated:
"It's great news that Amiga OS 4.0 is now available for Classic Amiga's with PPC cards. What would be even more exciting is if the Amiga Video Toaster 4000 also worked on OS 4.0." The time is at hand for the Amiga to reemerge as a video editing/desktop video platform. The release of the Amiga Video Toaster source code was step one. Amiga OS 4.0 for Classic Amiga was step two. Now lets go on to step three."

Software News   TeamAROS Bounty: Port AROS To x86_64 Completed
Software News posted by zerohero on 29-Nov-2007 11:27:25 (2948 reads)
Dr. Michal Schulz has once again completed another major TeamAROS Bounty, AROS x86_64 (aka AROS64). Although this was a very limited port do to ground breaking new territory for AROS, AROS64 enjoys limited memory protection and grub loaded modules. Future developement will include a brand new kernel as well as many new features.

With AROS64 now in the AROS SVN, Dr. Schulz will begin building his core developer team that will port the rest of the AROS32 code to 64 bit.

Expect nightly builds to begin shortly and appear on aros.org.
