you gotta be kidding me?

DvPlayer runs circles around mplayer here in terms of speed.

@Toaks,

I think Fusion was refering the the DIVX speed. At least that was a little slow for me.

Apart from that a great program (Can we have drag'n'drop?) and I'll register this week.

Cheers,
Bean.

@fuzion

okj this is weird , both my µa1c and XE plays dvd perfectly here (tried with TAXI 1,2,3 and 5th element among others and the playback is way over mplayer.

strange stuff.

note that a Play + pause + play might be needed when starting a movie (or dooing seek)

@bean

nah, he was talking about dvd.

regarding avi, odd :I (some formats has issues though most play as they should)

I've just copied the same file onto my HardDrive (Because it's not encrypted) to see if playing from HD helps.

Both DVPlayer & MPlayer are acting the same. MPlayer, plays the file near perfectly while DVPlayer is slower. At least I know my DVD is reading quick enough ).

I'll keep the file on my HD for the Big Bash 3 if anyone needs to see this.

FuZion.

fuzion:

what does the speed test say?

and are you using DMA ?

Dma aint needed to read a dvd at ok speed but it will drain the cpu ie it can make the system crawl when dooing dvd playback.

@FuZion

I had this happening with some old version of a1ide.device. What version do you have?

Also, what AHI version do you use? There are some problems with AHI endering a 'slow motion mode' (e.g. gaps between audio blocks) and DvPlayer syncs the video to the audio. If AHI plays with gaps, it will take longer to play and video will slow down to accomodate.

Also make sure you have UDMA enabled for your DVD-ROM.

DvPlayer aint replacing mplayer and probably wont in a long time as mplayer supports more formats (though Dvplayer supports formats which Mplayer doesnt (and the speed up for dvd etc))so i hope afxgroup will continue dooing mplayer aswell ofcourse and most of all competetion is important!.

best of luck to both AFXgroup and Cobra

@COBRA

Thank you for the such a great tool. I wonder will you add the support for other DVD video options. I mean 22:9 (widescreen), letterboxed, pan&scan etc. I cannot see the DVDs in 22:9 format IIRC (with 0.41 version). I'll try this new one tonight.
BTW do you know anything about Radeon overlay support? We are still waiting good news from Joshua&Bill

You might have went out of "phase" with AHI double buffering code. Where you then end up waiting for the wrong iorequest basically killing double buffering. And there are then gaps in the sound output because there's no active/running/playing iorequest between one SendIO and the next.

@Georg:

If that was the case I would have fixed it by now. It's more of a flaw in AHI, or the soundcard driver. I added workarounds for some AHI problems and I don't have such problems now. I heard that the latest CMI driver fixes some audio chopping problems.

@Cobra

That would be strange, since the latest CMI driver doesn't change anything at all regarding playback of sound.
