I have heard similar freedback from friends and not just because of the X1000. I believe the signal to noise ratio of AW.net has been deteriorating for a long time now. Likely due to lack of focus but then I'll just be attacked again for even suggesting it might be due to mixing too many platforms together... *cough* _________________ ExecSG Team Lead

While i don't necessarily share Rigo's bluntness, i can understand where it comes from. It's not good when you see that the favourite sport of the vocal majority here recently has become "talk bulls**t of anything coming from the "red side". I don't know if it's done on purpose but it's easy for anyone to verify by reading threads from the last months and judge with an open mind. It's no good to see your work constantly bashed by the same group of people, especially when you know they have no elements to judge. |
Unfortunately saying you don't mind if 97 percent of the community were to catch on fire does not seem to imply that you think you are only dealing with a problem vocal minority.
All that accomplishes IMHO is that it pleases the agitators because they got you to lash out at not just them, but a scope of folks beyond that.
We are all human of course, so its easy to see how these circumstances could wear on someone. I'm certainly sympathetic, but ultimately I think this only hurts the developers themselves as it at least has the potential to thin ranks that are already thin to begin with at this point. _________________ Pegasos2 G3 running AOS 4.1 and MorphOS 2.0 Amikit user, tinkering with Icaros VM (AROS) EFIKA owner Amiga 1200

I've brought this up in the past. If you need to file a report please keep that out of public conversation if at all possible. It can only escalate issues if anything. If you need to vent further do it in a PM, preferably to staff. _________________ Pegasos2 G3 running AOS 4.1 and MorphOS 2.0 Amikit user, tinkering with Icaros VM (AROS) EFIKA owner Amiga 1200

| I've been following this thread and new hardware is really impressive if it really happens. What the question is that nobody can answer is WHERE IS THE SOFTWARE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS AMAZING HARDWARE? What improvements to OS4.x will there be that we would want/need new exotic expensive hardware? |

Yes, I am familiar with the word hyperbole.
Given this is an international site, hyperbole statements should be used very very carefully.
Imagine just for a second what such statements means to someone who have experienced fire, bombs and such.

Sorry, as an expert on language I have to disagree with you. Rigo clearly spoke of "extinguishing" in metaphorical sense, which is a natural and common feature of language.
What you are proposing here is language engineering and over-correctness.
If I say that, for instance, a program is "lame", will you jump on me with the TOS, reminding me of what real lame people would think? Last edited by Trixie on 25-Feb-2010 at 08:25 AM.

Everyone else isn't, and as tomazkid mentioned, this is an international website. Not everyone will understand the nuances in a foreign language, hence why the TOS is written as it is. _________________ Common sense - So rare it's almost like a super power

| > Hello Cool_amigaN. Can you introduce yourself ?
That would be totally pointless.
> When and how did you discover the Amiga ?
In my basement when I was looking for some ancient artifacts.
> In a 1997 issue of the magazine CU Amiga, we have discovered "Suzanne", your highly customized Amiga 600. Could you tell us the story behind this computer project ?
No.
> Why ?
That would be pointless too.
> What is your opinion about the AmigaOS Beta Testers?
They can catch a fire. I don't care.
> What are you trying to achieve with this interview?
Answer with as less words as possible.
> Have you managed it?
No.
> A last message for the Amiga community?
Jesus! Will that interview ever end?!?!

Sorry but this is ridiculous. If Rigo speaks of using extinguishers, you say there will be users in here thinking he's going to burn people for real? C'mon!
And yes, it was a poor interview.Last edited by Trixie on 25-Feb-2010 at 08:51 AM.

| No, that's not what I'm saying. We're saying people interpret things differently, and in this particular case people who have experienced bad burns would probably be very offended. While this is not specific to a foreign language, it certainly doesn't help either.
EDIT: Anyway, this is getting way off-topic, I'll leave it at that. Last edited by zerohero on 25-Feb-2010 at 08:57 AM.

I certainly agree, but I don't think the reason is "mixing too many platforms together". Rather it is "mixing too many platforms together, *without* sufficient moderation of certain negative individuals". When a few people continually get away with posting highly negative stuff in every thread they visit, it changes the whole feel of the site, and encourages other members to be post negative stuff. _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. Continually repeating this does not make it true. OS4 has lots of software available, and more in development. You never state exactly what kind of important software you think OS4 is missing that will effect every-day users.Last edited by ChrisH on 25-Feb-2010 at 09:48 AM.

LOL, you must be joking. There are so many posts from members that your pm list will be overloaded.
Look at AmigaHeretic and the damage is causing with his threads (not posts, threads!). He is not crossing the lines, he is not calling names, he is not breaking the TOS but he is capable of staritng a new thread every day until arguing if A1X1K is vaporware until it finally gets released in the next months.

This is not a thread about moderation, that's why I said to ChrisH to PM me. Also if you have problems with the moderation you should PM one of the moderators. You yourself just broke TOS with that post. Since I'm involved in this thread myself, I won't moderate here, but I will report problems for others to look at. _________________ Common sense - So rare it's almost like a super power
