| I guess this is the logical stepping stone to having Hollywood (& Hollywood Designer) running natively on Windows/MacOSX.... Last edited by ChrisH on 27-Jan-2008 at 03:07 PM.

| This is like a bridge between emulation and host environment too. Now it is possible to create something in emulation (eg. WinUAE) and run it outside the emulated environment! Great!!
Pardon my ignorance but what is the difference between Hollywood and Hollywood Designer? Are they independent applications? Or can they be combined together somehow? If so, what are the benefits? What can I create in Hollywood and cannot in the Designer and vice versa? Thanks! _________________ Modern Retro Experience

NO! If it runs on Amiga only, we'll surprise all those ignorants with a "Made on an Amiga computer" message!! Then they'll be motivated to know more! _________________ And may the AmigaGuide you!

| Wow this looks very interesting.
Shame there's no demo but I've been struggling with the Multimedia Fusion demo for so long that this can't be any LESS intuitive. I'm going to bite the bullet and purchase it, and I'll finally have a purpose for my AROS install. :D

| Impressive indeed. Compile for all these amiga and other plattforms. If only macromedia would do like this and make Flash avaible for more platforms like amiga and linuxppc. Maybe hollywood would kick in as a webbrowser plugin ;) |

Totally agree, looks wise! However, I only have one word to say, several times, and that word is DEMO, DEMO, DEMO, DEMO, DEMO, DEMO, DEMO!
Oh, maybe not one word, and the ability to write applications that don't require a ~10Mb download for something relatively simple. How about a Hollywood shared library or a Hollywood '.so' object like OWB now uses.
Other than that, excellent work! _________________ This fire is burnin' and it's out of control It's not a problem you can stop, It's rock n' roll - GN'F'N'R

| Hi there Slash :)
Well, in the early days of hollywood/hollywood designer, I too was eager to try out a demo.. However, one day i decided to just buy the software-package - and this is probably my best spent money on any amigasoftware!
Hollywood and Hollywood Designer is now my favoritte software, and the overall quality is superb! Myself i mainly use Designer to make multimedia-presentations.
Airsoft Softwair has written a very detailed manual (amigaguide-format) - maybe it would be possible for you to see this if you are interested ? So you could get an idea of how hollywood acutally works ?
There is also an active hollywood- mailinglist consisting of the developer himself and alot of experienced (and helpful) user.
I really hope that alot of users are buying this software, and support one of the greatest developers still around on Amiga!
Congratulations to Andreas! and thank you very much for updating hollywood once again!!
Best regards Torgeir :) |

| Ok so I've purchased the software, and I'm updating VmAROS to the latest version while I'm waiting for my Hollywood download link to be sent to me. Hopefully I'll be able to give this a wizz by the time I get on the train tomorrow morning. I'll let you know my thoughts as soon as I have. |

| Even if a demo is not available (which I understand), being able to download the guide would be great. At least I could check if Hollywood has the features I'm looking for... Last edited by elwood on 27-Jan-2008 at 08:22 PM.

Hollywood = beginner friendly programming language based on lua. no access to host OS functions, but powerful functions for graphics (including layers, sprites, collision detection...), sound, input/output handling etc.
Hollywood Designer: A PowerPoint/Scala clone. the presentations created with Hollywood Designer need to be compiled with Hollywood. |

| This is really impressive. I and I'm sure others mentioned this as really being 'needed' to use for anything much other than play, and you delivered. Now in theory, I COULD actually use this for some work presos...until of course someone wants to modify it, but that's ok. This is really a nice improvement (running on OS X and Windows).
I assume it will run on XP and Vista as well? Any plans for Linux?
This may well become my next AOS software purchase.

| Sounds very impressive! When Hollywood 2.5 was released I was interrested but I'm lacking any programming skills. So I didn't bought it. Well the only programming I ever did was with Turbo Pascal... 10 years ago.
When browsing the Airsoft site the following did sound very good: Quote:
Although all this may sound a bit complicated to you, it is very easy. Programming skills are not necessary. |
Is Hollywood really useable for a beginner like me? _________________ µA1c OS4.1 (with a dead powersupply (powersupplied)) A500
