Did I miss something? I guess that expalins why the "Ask Fleecy" Q&As have stopped.

Who is KMOS? I'm confused :-/

At first glance, it would be good for someone to own AmigaOS that actually cares about it for a change..

Name sounds familiar but my short term (and long term) memory has been a bit frayed by sweet Guinness and otherwise.

Enlighten me a little more please! ;)

I've tried to find some info on the net about KMOS, but can't find anything relevant, let's hope they have some spare cash to put into some proper marketing once OS4 is out.

There's one thing I read into this and that is that the Amiga OS should now be protected better against the financial hardships of Amiga Inc (Assuming of course that KMOS are more stable)

Hmm, so now Amiga Inc is about as much related to the Amiga OS as Partition Wizard is to creating Partitions (er, me wonders if I'm going to have to explain that one )

It does seem like this would up Genesi's legal bill at the very least. Gee, isn't that a pity

Some insight into the previous Amiga Inc and Garry Hare history.. I dont know if its real, but it sounded very genuine to me at the time:

If it is true, then the part about "generating dozens of potentially profitable leads" is encouraging.

I just noticed this on Amiga's website:

"release of the consumer version of AmigaOS 4.0 later this year."

I'm not aware what the schedule was for release prior to this, but "later this year". Anyway I hope this is a great move for Amiga OS.

I did not find anything relevant on KMOS either, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it would be better if they had a reputation of a decent nature.

Hey as long as they have $, keep the AmigaOS flowing, and stay out of Hyperion's way (umm I mean work together with them) I wil probably not complain.

Kinda funny though, if we did not have a change of company every 2 or 3 years, it just wound't be quite the same Amiga! :)

I am sure the situation will all come to light in the near future, as likely will the tro**s. However the first one to shed some legitimate light gets to have a big fat cookie.

@ Miki

"Later this year" means at some point in time after today, and before the end of the year. This means that it could be in ten minutes or a minute before the end of the year.

Do not mix up "later this year" with "late this year".

I'm confused - is this good news or bad news? Garry Hare was the guy that Bill Buck was excited about a few months ago (the whole "I though everyone knew" deal), and here we have a sale of AmigaOS just a few days after Buck says he wants free access to OS4 (the whole "forcing the upgrade clause" and "invalidating contracts" deal).

The whole thing sounds to me like AInc have been forced to make an out-of-court settlement by selling to a company friendly to Genesi, but everyone here is getting all excited. Last I checked this isn't morphos-news. On top of that, I haven't heard a peep out of Bill Buck (neither gloating nor posturing, his usual reaction to AInc news depending on whether they're good or bad for him). All the signposts are either missing or pointing in the wrong direction! Could someone please explain the new politics of the situation?

To me it looks like OS4 is getting financially and legally secured, while Amiga Inc. can concentrate their resources on AmigaDE as they should. It looks a lot like the different Amiga hardware/software products are now going to be split along a wider range of companies, which isn't bad.

It just means all the eggs no longer are in one basket.

Oh boy... interesting.

Maybe now some of the blinded people who made fun of Bill Buck and the Gary Harre afair (i.e the infamous business card) will think twice about their views on the Truth and Reality... probably not though. *sigh

We need to unite as a community now. Put all the things behind us. The fact Amiga inc is no longer in control of the os is fantastic for all of us.

Oh, and yes OS4 is obviously still a way away. Even though Hyperion is doing an amazing and impressive job. I played with the latest build the other day and it seems nice but there is work to do. I say the commercial release wont happen for another 6 months...

But there are ppl all over routing for it!

realize

@Codesmith

Read the news item carefully. It states that the changes occurred last year in April. The court case I imagine would have had near zero influence. Also, considering the utterances by Buck over the past year, I doubt that thry would be all that friendly towards the management at Genesi
