Welcome (to the Asylum ?) KMOS.

FINALLY this "classified rumour" thats been floating around IRC is out ... And when I called it a night and went to bed too !!

@ Realize .... You DO realize that JurassicC's AmigaOne running OS4 was not only providing the live Stream from the BIG BASH but also ripping songs from cd into mp3 and then lanning them over to Mikey_C's machine for him to use in his capacity as a Dj at the BASH don't you ?

True Multitasking .. I believe it was ALSO demoing Doom at the same time.

And It NEVER crashed all night !!

Methinks with the latest announcements there's going to a lot less FUD around.

Finally ... Once again .. Welcome Garry Hare.

You do not know the information that others have come into contact with for them to have made a decision, so it would be best for you not to comment on the state of mind of others.

Er Yes we have,

Most of the members here do not like your pal BBRV.

For well over a year we have been in retreat cos of BBRV's and his loyal faithful's antics, doesn't matter how you dress it, this is good news for the Amiga community. At long last there is a new way forward.

I think most of our members will be rejoicing frankly. I beleive you will be in the smaller minority, oh well, now you know how the other shoe felt

@ Mikey_C .. Indeed. I'm well late for work today now !! But who cares .. Great news to be starting the day with ..

WOW!

OS4 is a bit more advanced than I thought then! (my idea was an OS core with the usual prefs, dosdrivers, etc and not a whole lot more)

You guys should mention these sort of things more often!

@amigaoneproductions:

When you prepare the downloadable video of the bash, you might want to add this bit of info in a static text frame at the beginning; I would consider it the best form of advertising for OS4.

AND I suspect the attendance for Amigbg will go through the roof. Would be Kewl If KMOS introduced themselves at that show too.

Actually a blue supporter might turn red in the face

Congratulations, you finally acheived something tangible for the future of AOS4.0 with all your wheeling and dealing.

FWIW this probably still doesn't let AInc of the hook....the employees of AInc are the ones that muddied the waters regarding AOS proper and AmigaDE migration paths. One particular very loosemouthed individual with a sheepish name in particular. Just because I (and meny others) are intelligent enough and have enough product background and knowledge to sepearate the two, doesn't mean a judge will see it that way.

This could be seen as a last minute manouver to asset strip the company proir to bankruptcy....

Still, with legal representation at least AInc now have a fighting chance!

Now get the bloody product out the door! Then we can concentrate on the real issue...Applications!

Steve

It's hard to believe that you're actually trying to persuade me that people's minds are closed, but if that's how it is... very sad indeed. I like to assume that people are open to ideas; then I scale back my expectations if I find otherwise. I think this is the best approach at a discussion forum. Something is definitely strange when a moderator is telling me to stop assuming there are open-minded readers at his site.

@Gary_C, that is not what alkemyst said at all

@Gary_C and involved moderators - if you want to get into a minor pitched battle about amigaworld.net, its openness or not can I recommend it be put into a new discussion thread rather than filling up this news item with comments on it

Im coming up so you better get the party (on) started!

@gary_c

No. what you really want is people to accept YOUR argument, that you ARE RIGHT!

tbh, I don't share your opinion, you own a Pegasos and use MOS too I beleive, therefore, your arguments are not unbiased. So do not expect people on here to take everything you say on here as gospel.

From ann.lu - "The hostage negotiation is now over. thanks to all who've responded to my request for information that I posted here a few months back. The response was overwhelming and extremely helpful. It was clear that what Amiga Inc were spending their money on, and what we were investing in, were two entirely different things. We've now solved this problem the best we can from our end, by forcing the separation of the two. While not the best outcome for us, it's one we can live with. Thanks again all, it's much appreciated."

So as it turns out, the investors forced Amiga Inc to sell AmigaOS off, because they wanted to invest in AmigaOS development, not DE. It makes sense now.

HHmmm... why is everybody shouting good news, everything will get better?

Hey since the bankruptcy of C=, no company that took over Amiga survived.

When I did read the news this morning at 6 am I first couldn't believe it, but it seems it is a normal situation for Amiga.

My second thought was this 23rd April 2003 sold to ITEC.LLC. Oh in America it is allowed to date back contracts? In Europe it is illegal. But it seems the USA do have some strange laws: Guantanamo bay - no rights/laws at all, Bush election - the candidate with less votes gets elected ...

Third thought, Amiga Inc sells everything so when they lost the first case, they don't have anything left for Genesi.

Who the hell is ITEC.LLC?

And who is KMOS? Kate Moss?

Adios Amiga.

Somehow I always do have the wrong computer systems, though they were and still are in many ways better than any existing system:

- Amiga since 1985 - but it died when C= died
- Psion PDA best PDA system a complete independant computer without the need of a PC.
- Sharp Zaurus PDA, best developer PDA with Linux but not supported by Sharp
- iMAC great OS but Apple is doing more music than computer now. All big software companies do leave the MAC.

I think I give up on computers.

Well it's a "Mad World" as in the song by Michael Andrews feat. Gary Jules.

Its good news because:

1. Amiga Inc now have the money to release the work they have done on DE, to protect their trademarks and rights.

2. Hyperion is now working with a well funded outfit that wants to invest in AmigaOS ( not DE like the Amiga Inc of 2000 was originally funded ).

3. Amiga Inc are appealling the court case, and they have got help.

So I conclude, that AOS4 will be well funded, released on many more platforms this year ( no, not Pegasos ).

It means that for the FIRST time since ESCOM, there is a RAY OF HOPE that something is going to get done that is not about assett stripping, going after set top boxes, using the name to sell other stuff, making an x86 MMC/MCC (?) etc.

@Thread

Your mileage may vary, if you are a blue troll no doubt you will see this as the worst possible news for Amiga users, readers of amigaworld.net etc

@ gary_c

Hi' Gary

I don't think that we are closeminded ... MorphOS is not an option for me, because of the relationship with Bill Buck ... If BB did not have relations with MorphOS, and AmigaOS was not going to be released, would MorphOS still not be on my top 5 ... there are lots of alternative OS that through my eyes look more prommesing than MorphOS ... For example try to have a look at SkyOS

Well this Amiga Inc to KMOS transfer explains why there are no more Fleecy Q&As.

I still wonder what all these Q&As brought? We were always told about some AG2 and AmigaDE which somehow did never exist.

Now that Amiga Inc is only a name Genesi will probably acquire the name Amiga and the Peg will become Amiga Pegasos with AOS4 running on them.
