To people being picky about W3C validation and XHTML, please remember that :

-There is no modern browser for the amigaOS, pages need to be done with 1995 crappy techniques (before the W3C really entered the game and standardized Web languages) since Aweb rendering engine is aproximatively the equivalent of Netscape 3/Internet Explorer 3.
-This web site was done with Mambo (yuck !), this CMS has some qualities but is absolutely unable to produce valid html

It's quite telling that people are griping about the W3C compliance and not the site.


If you want a site to display correctly on the maximum number of browsers it's probably not even possible to be w3c compliant - OSNews is not compliant yet it will render correctly on pretty much every browser out there, even the weird obscure ones you've never heard of.

My own home page is mostly w3c correct but it won't validate as the site search Yahoo hosting provide is done through code they give you which won't validate. They also add an additional line to outgoing pages for stats and this will also cause a failure.

Ww3c compliance it's an "ideal" not an absolute. What matters is if the site can be viewed in their browser.

There's been discussion elsewhere about the RAM disc on the Amiga, is it really an advantage these days? It was useful in the days of floppies but HDs are fast. I would have thought putting a disc cache into spare RAM would be more useful.

If you only have one HD, or if you intend to run the OS from a flash-ROM or similar, then it's a big advantage IMHO. If you ever have (un)archived some files with one HD, you have probably noticed how the HD keep seeking back and forth between the archive and the files being (de)archived. This makes the process very slow. Using two HD's will take care of that problem though (which is how I always do things with my PC as it has no RAM-disk). If you run the OS from a flash-ROM and need to save some data temporarly, some kind of RAM-disk will be required, and setting up a fixed size RAM-disk would just waste resources.
