@helgis
yea, you completely ignored him. you just wrote a post on aw, and told us about him, but you completely ignored him.
sorry, but i think he rather completely ignored the aos4 site.

sorry, i am a die-hard amiga fan, but this is just an internet site. this won't sell 5 million amigaones, even if i wish it would.

yea, i wish it would, i really do. but let's be realistic. no dancing banana for me, and no offence towards hyperion. nice site. the nicest 'official' one about AOS4. but still, it's just one site among millions.

sometimes this little aw comunity just feels so playgroundish. for gods sake THINK, this is a still an early, or rather to late dream, we won't take over the microsoft offices tomorrow with our 'superior' OS that we love so much... as much as I DO love it, but please, time for a reality check, please wake up.

Don't go bananas for a thing like this, it makes us look more than a little silly...

Thanks for the air time...

.. spot / up rough

EDIT: The site looks like an advert for AOS4. That's good. We need AOS4 to get ported to some wellknown devices, and what we need even more, is some company that pays Hyperion to do it. I sure hope the site succeeds in that area.

It's already been said, but the site really does look great. I couldn't be happier.

Thanks for the dedication when sometimes it seems as if no one appreciates it.

@all

Did you notice the new OS4 slogan...
"Remember when computing was fun."

This sounds very like something I came up with on an Amiga Slogan Forum when we were coming up with advertising ideas.
Hmmmm.... Who says you have no influence on a forum.

Quote:

Anyway, using an Amiga has gotta be seen as a sort of release from work. Or from a boring PC.

Voiceover, thumbling comedic music.
"Remember a time when computers were simple." A nerd leans over in the office and sprouts some incomprehensible technobabble.
"Remember a time when computers did what you wanted." Somebody yawning at a desk at home waiting for his PC to update....the progress bar moves from 5% to 4%. Thumps fist on desk.
"Remember a time when you didn't have to worry." Hundreds of browser popups on the screen. Zoom in on. Your computer has a virus...Man at desk ready to pull hair out.
"Remember a time when you enjoyed using a computer."
Man screams, "That's the last time" and beats his PC to death with an axe in the office for crashing yet again...
"Remember a time when computers weren't work." Somebody throws their PC throught a highrise window and it lands with a crash on the ground.
"The Amiga has returned." Demos, games and productivity apps flashing in rapid succession in a cresendo of music(like at the end of a movie trailer.).
Fade to Amiga logo, "Let the fun begin.........Amiga"

I say....
"Let the fun begin!!!!"

Ok. Going back to my happy place now.
We have no hotdogs!!! But I have a hotdog website!!!

@ Rogue

Nice website! Can you clarify the 'scalability' section, where several PPC processors are listed as working now. Does this mean working on hardware that you have for testing and developement, or in a programmers virtual environment, where you are able to say, Yes, it works on a, b, c, and d...
Not asking for product names, just whether physical, or virtual, in the mentioned cases. Thanx for replying.

As for the main screen, I suggest nudging the text to the right, so it does not obscure the nice boingball graphic as much...

And I assume that several other announcements are impending, from reading between the lines of all this...

@ all: Have a great weekend!

The new website is superb!

Even though I'm writing this from OS4, the sections about tasks not getting priority on other OS's really brought to mind my work computer which has a 3GHz processor and 1Gb of RAM but is still easily brought to it's knees by Win2K when an application decides it's feeling grumpy. And the worst thing of all? The damned Task Manager doesn't even get any priority so you can't just call it up and kill whatever's gone haywire!

By contrast I've only managed to lock up my OS4 system completely a handful of times, and those have usually involved running a 68k application. (Plus, of course I'm using a pre-release version. I shudder to think what people running early Microsoft builds have to go through!)

Now I'm even more excited about OS4 Final than ever before - Great work Hyperion!

Hmmm... so excited I appear to have totally forgotten to go to bed. Good night!

Yes, it is very good. Reading the site, it is obvious that it is Hyperion's showcase for Amiga OS 4.0, designed to entice developers, OEMs, and users to the platform. Not to mention to those of us hooked informed and up to date. Meaning they are looking to sell and make some money on this. It is good to see positive signs like this.

Now for someone or ones to provide or licence some hardware.

Now I have to say that I didn't sleep for two days now. When I came home
from Phil Collins concert all I was thinking about was to drop dead in my bed. Then I
decided just to check the news here at AW.net (becouse it's been 5 hours since
the last one) and I find this. Now thanks to Hyperion I can't go to slep from all the excitement.
Like I said to many of my friends if Hyperion play it right this time, they could't
have chosen better time to do an innovation like this.
I'm not sure if everyone see the real potential in all of this
but unless something totaly unpredictible happens I am assured that they are playing
their cards the right way. Go Hyperion oh yeah I almost forgot something

HYPERION

P.S. Oh and all the time I'm listening to The Rasmus - No Fear, just like our beloved Amiga
It fears noone

edit: I'm realy tired now so sorry for typos

True, but I don't get the impression that they are trying to sell any. Seems like a very smart
attempt to attract new players to the OS. If they get any takers, we won't need to worry
about A1s anymore.

This next observation might be reading too much into this, but does anyone think that the
unveiling of this website shortly after Garry Hare's departure is more then just coincidence?
I apologize if this has been covered in another thread.

C Snyder

Finally! I thought this would never happen!

IT LOOKS GOOD!
GREAT LAYOUT!
GOOD CONTENT!
NO SPEELING OR GRAMMER ISSUES!
NO BROKEN LINKS!

This is the first site I would forward to non-Amiga or ex-Amiga users to generate interest in OS 4.

Whoever does the copy on this project deserves a pat on the back.

I have one suggestion: Make the screen shots clickable so you can see all the details.

I am surpriced nobody has started to discuss the following phrase from the Hardware flexibility: section:

Quote:
However the clean AmigaOS codebase was written with portability in mind, so if you've got your heart set on another processor family, talk to us and we'll see what we can do.

Very smart site. Looks good.

I have got 2 comments though:

1. The "The AmigaOS advantage - your advantage" article is a good one, but it's buried in a pointless submenu. Why not get rid of the "AmigaOS" page and have direct links from the main page?

2. It really needs its own domain name. I associate anything with *.biz with spam.
