@Hondo_DK

I was a strong OS4 supporter and deliberately ignored everything that was happening in the Peg/MOS world.

But it's hard to blame users for losing their patience during all these years of broken promises, vapour(hard)ware, missing deadlines, and all the things we've talked about for ages: no need to quote them once again.

A lot of things have changed during the last 3 years (roughly).

I'm afraid this could really be the first time since Commodore days that an Amiga (derivative, ok, but I don't care anymore about this) system can truly be brought to the masses.

Because price *IS* important, IMHO.

Because this website is called Amigaworld and covers news of all Amigaish operating systems. There is a focus on OS4, but that doesn't mean that other important news such as this one doesn't get covered.

Btw, have you noticed that there is even a forum called "Alt Amiga OS" on this website? Scary, huh?

No that understandable.

I have only lost faith once when ACK's news about the PVLT was out of the running.. it took me a week to get over before my faith came back. I even switch about my PC for main Computer its better in every HW expect but the fun felling was not there.

But what I dont like is the Moderaton on this site (any more), it was suposed to be PRO OS4. If you want to talk about MOS go MZ or MooBunny and for AROS they have AROS-Exec.
I love to read about them all, I do prefere OS4 but from time to time I check them all out. But why not keep them seperated now that there is dedicated site for every branch of the AmigaOS.

@hatschi

Well you think it covers all Amigaos'es.. If I were in charged it would only cover officialy released OSes like AmigaOS 1.x, 2.x, 3.x, 4.x... all the wannabe's should be removed or at best hidden from the Front Page.

No need to keep things separated in an Amigaworld. When watching the news, I don't complain to the broadcasting station that they also cover countries other than my home country.

So, you say that we should start moderating everything you don't agree with and not like? That wouldn't leave much, content-wise...

It still is.
It's just that not a lot is happening with OS4 and OS4 hardware lately. If there is another OS4 update or OS4 goes live at Xmas time and when the Sam appears at dealers bundled with OS4 - I would imagine that this site will be wall to wall OS4 coverage.

As for DK Hondo - pretty pathetic attitude, dude! You would rather see tumbleweed and hear silence than rejoice in the success of 'other' systems that are no threat to OS4 - your way is a very insular and small minded.

@RWO
To be honest, I simply don't notice most of the MorphOS/AROS stuff - I simply skip the news items & threads that don't interest me, and MOS/AROS very rarely intrude on threads that they aren't already part of the subject. (Now yes, there are quite a few threads discussing the future of the Amiga, including MOS & AROS, but that's hardly surprising when OS4 has been without hardware for so long.)

@Colin Camper

You can call me what you like, but im not at all interested in "other" systems, and want to keep my focus on amiga.inc's and Hyperions plans, OS4-5-6, AA, and the future that will bring.......no matter how silent they are.

If i wanted to hear about MOS, AROS, WHATEVER OS, then i would visit the related sites. RWO is right, this site is turning into A.org, which at the end just before AW.net was made, was a terrible place!

An uncompatible OS with an uncompatible MB. Why does these news float around Amigaworld which is (was) a community site for OS4xx and REAL Amiga related stuff???

Because it is *not* an incompatible OS, it runs AmigaOS 3.x 68k, PowerUP and WarpUP, as well as its own MorphOS apps, *natively* (in terms of the API). How would you classify it as incompatible? It's got every part of the AmigaOS reimplemented and as part of itself, it's not emulating anything but the 68k CPU. MUI is native to it, CGX is native to it, Intuition is native to it, Exec is native to it, what exactly is so foreign and incompatible?

Quote:
I feel like my new favorite amiga site has been invaded by angry, hostile, foreign, people/systems, and i feel like being let down by original staffs good intentions with Amigaworld.

*FOREIGN*!? I beg your pardon? We've been in this community as long as *YOU* have been, the only difference is that we lost patience in waiting for the official solution and went for another, available and compatible, solution. Hostile? You call me foreign and *I* am the hostile one? So, are you claiming that I and other people here are hostile, while Atheist and Co. are not?

Quote:
Honestly I find it hard to cope with all this Genesi/AROS propaganda on this particular site. I miss the times at the beginning when this site was a fresh breath of air....and pro amiga.inc and OS4xxx oriented and nothing else!

"All this" propaganda? Do a quick search. Very quick, it won't take much. Tell me how many MorphOS and AROS threads you see in here. Now, search for all AmigaOS threads. Finally, search for threads that have nothing to do with either and are either random technology or general chatter. "All this" Genesi/AROS propaganda is less that 1% of the site's content.

The site *IS* OS4 oriented, if you fail to see that, I suggest you take a look at other sites around that are not to see the difference. If it was OS4 *only*, it would also exclude OS3.* and as such would *not* be AmigaWorld. Moreover, Pro-Amiga Inc.? Care to justify how anyone can be pro-Amiga Inc. nowadays? I think that you will find that most *AmigaOS 4* users are not pro-Amiga Inc. anymore. Do you want us to exclude them as well?

We could do it, only you'd end up with 10 users not having anything to talk about.

everything you mention my pc do... so whats the point... first of all morphos is an amiga clone.. and not the true successor... i see no point in geting morphos at all...

It can? Wow! Quote his whole message and list how to do every single point with your PC, as my PC (or even my PPC Mac) cannot do any but 1 of them and that one under full system emulation running a 68k OS.

Ok, so you would like us to moderate everything not OS4-related?
So every subject not OS4-related will be deleted, including AOS 3.x/2.x/1.x.

I can do that if you like, but be aware that aw.net will most likely turn into a ghost site, due to lack of positive OS4-news

Aw.net is still pro OS4, but that does not exclude other OS'es or "free for all" when someone has something he/she feels is important to share with others.

Hyperion's plans? Sure, I focus on them too. AA? Now who's the foreign user, me or one who uses AA on Windows PocketPC?

@ Hondo_dk

Let me understand something: are you saying that you'd rather prefer no news at all than a news item every once and then about stuff related to MOS or AROS?

Do you think that mentioning the Efika deal with the MOS team has subtracted "news space" from AmigaOS4?

@Amigr

So you think that amigaworld is a nice place compared to when it started???

I'm sorry but i can't deal with the fact that bbrv, aros people, mos people, come here, and are allowed to post news, etc. They were the very reason i left a.org. at the time. I really wanted a site which was only dedicated to OS4, AA, Amiwerse, etc., and i loved it when amigaworld came along.

but now it's becoming a.org again, thanks to letting people like you moderate it....you are a MOS fanboy are you not?

DaveyD has lost his touch with his original idea.

Watch the personal insults ok.

There are several MOS using moderators at this site. You class them in the same way ?
