Weather man: "We'll have a nice and sunny day tomorrow. Good night and good luck."
Viewer #1: Finally some good news about the weather (dancing bananas)!!!
Viewer #2: Ugg, very suspicious. He didn't specifically mention that it will not rain, did he?
Viewer #3: Yeah. that's weird. An he did not say that it's a forecast for us, they didn't even mention a country.
Viewer #4: And what does he mean by tomorrow? No speficic time was given, just like yesterday. It's always tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow.
Viewer #5: Maybe they are just saying this to p*ss of the other weather channels?
Viewer #6: Yuck, what a map. Colors are totally odd. I have drawn better clouds in kindergarten.
Viewer #7: wohoooo great news ... that is reason for beer :)
Viewer #8: Well i dunno, not gonna build my hopes up with this but if it gets sunny, i`ll buy a beer, too.
Viewer #9: Still, I miss a similar forcast on this site, and on this site and on this site. Forecasts concerning weather are usually quite similar. I would at least expect some traces of similarity somewhere, in some form.
Viewer #10: I'm sceptical, too. Too many botched forecasts. If we see anything of the sun this week, I will not be surprised -- I'll be utterly dumbfounded. It just won't happen. Speaking of weather channel viewers -- are there any left? Talk about a group that's been mistreated for decades. I can imagine a great big yawn from the so-called "wheather men".
Viewer #10: Hmmm... I'm very sceptical. If I recall correctly this guy told some major porkies to some people concerning gobal warming..
Viewer #11: Why is he alwaays looking at the map? He should look us in they eye. At least we could see his face while he's making those forecasts or something... just an idea...

I'm utterly amazed - nearly everyone is saying all the things I couldn't say, for fear of being accused of being overly cynical/trolling. Things really have change on AmigaWorld.net in recent months! (note - I wish ACK & AI the best of luck, but I'll believe it when I see it.)

@dietmar:
Nice parody, but your hypothetical weather show hadn't been in limbo for the last 5 years, with tens if not hundreds of vapour announcements, nor has it known legal issues between the parties involved. Hence why your weather debate is ridiculous, while our Amiga debate is deadly serious & sensible (unfortunately - I wish you were right).

All I can say is - WOW!

But of course... I'll see it when I believe it!

And I can't understand why more information can't be given now...! What's actually going to happen in a week?

And if ACK has been working for 12 Months for AInc why has no news been given previously?... Yet again BAD communication.

But, Of course I'm happy... Hope the £250/$500 board is standalone and not a classic hardware add on and that OS4 is running on both pieces of hardware.

AND............ This news calls for one thing:

A further thought: I'm doing a 180 degree turn, and thinking that maybe Amigans.net was a good thing after all, if we can all discuss these things fairly realistically (albeit cynically) over here without fights or upset, while those over on Amigans.net can take a more optimistic view (although I note a splash of cynicism over there too). I still regret the split happened though.

Aren't we forgetting something here..... For OS4 to run on this new tub, Hyperion would have to be involved to get the bloody thing to boot.

ACK has full source to OS4. Amiga Inc claim they fully own OS4. ACK and Amiga Inc are partners. Guess what this does to the Amiga Inc/Hyperion situation?

(I don't know, but it's an interesting situation. )

@T_bone

Full source? uhm AFAIK not even Hyperion has full source (since the friedens are sub licensing execSG binaries to Hyperion to be distributed with aos4 (also according the supposed contract draft we've all seen hyperion was in their full right to allow contractors such deals) )?

I really didn't expect this. Now all they need to do is get the hardware out... Then I might really believe it!

Nope, you're not the only one. But we've had this discussion about their taste in web design in another thread already.

If they have new hardware, I can forgive the weak site graphics.

so what have ACK Software Control done in the past, that would suggest that they are capable of producing these things?

Have ACK ever delivered any Amiga related product? I'm hardly inspired with confidence with the latest press release, I wonder whether it's just there to shut some people up on these forums and others.

Ever get the feeling your being strung along, carrot anyone?

New look Amiga.com is a definate improvement, the interactive banners are midly entertaining - not sure about that Dolphin on the Amiga OS page - bring back the digital convergence Polar Bears and Penguins!

>>"The first is a consumer entry design that will offer a complete product with a target price point of $500.0"

If this ever gets released at this price (more than likely the target price won't be met as usual and it will be much higher) then we can expect 500-800 of us Amiga users still hanging on to buy it correct?

Then what are the company’s future goals? THEN after the first MONTH ALL the sales have dried up and they fold like everyone else? No support for the hardware bugs that are inevitable with new custom hardware?

>>"while the second will be of a power design that would have a target price point of $ 1,500.00"

I doubt there is a remote chance of this ever coming to see the light of day. My best guess would be that this is just "In the works" and is based on the "$500" board first being successful.

I don't care what any one says about PPC in embedded products. NO company is going to pay $500 for one of these for ANY reason from some no name company. Please don't even suggest that.

Hopefully it even runs AmigaOS4 and at least a few more people will get the privilidge of using it

Sorry, not trying to be so negative
