@Ami603

Not the least bit curious about "what it IS"? or specs?

The statement indicates only that info about manufacturing, pricing, and launch schedule is forthcoming. Odd press release.

I am not harassing ACK. Not at all. But he is a public
figure in the community. Much like a politician and
they must be able to handle criticism and scepticism.

They become public figures from when they announce
such projects.

Unless I hear otherwise, I'm assuming the previously announced PowerVixxen LT and TL specs still apply here.

The problem is where he would source the A1200 connectors.
Aparently they were extremely rare and possibly Jens was the
only guy who could source/make them..

This is what I heard during the partnership between Adam and
Jens..

"The above implies that there will be 2 complete "Systems".
If this is true then $500 and $1500 is not that bad of a deal for complete ready to go systems."

0h count me out then. I don't want another "dell box" with cheap parts. I always buy the best components, no matter the cast. motherboard is enough. let the user decide on case, components. You leave it to business, like amiga inc they will profit maximize by giving crap inside their "systems".

It has begun
Arstechnica (our own Jeremy Reimer) has posted this.

and he's a reliable [blank] source... lol
frankly i don't see his credential for writing such articles. The article itself is missing critical details, including photos, and thus adds little value.

"not the problem. But amigans need someone who really cares about comunity, supportive with presence. Naturally it is your business after all, but i suggest:"

You don't know the person and you cannot accuse him of not caring about community.
As for Jens, well he isn't exactly a sweet angel. He also made promises and not kept them.

"And remember... Amiga comunity is not only a market, a passion... but a source for help."

Funny. passion. If you are ever successful in a job/business, you have to realize and separate passion from business. The two rarely mix well together. That's if you are successful. Business sense comes first before passion. if you don't make money, well you should throw passion out of the window.
If thats the case with Amiga, then let it die along with Commodore. Ack should approach this as business not passion. Passion will kill any business.
I don't see nothing wrong by ACK making announcements. Time will tell and present products, and silence the critics (yes i'm sceptical about good priced amiga hardware too but i'd rather wait).

@terminator3

You seem to see this from the greater perspective of "a business". Great.

In that context:

Quote:
I don't see nothing wrong by ACK making announcements.

We lose people (users/customers/testers/devs/etc.) with every announcement that fails to have a follow through with a real product.
Is that not applicable to what you said above about "business"?

No offense intended, but that thought is ridiculous. Do we really have to *make up* explanations to why a simple thing as posting the same PR on both parties sites (as customary) didn't happen?

Is it that neccesary to announce boards + specs that have already been announced? It's not that ridiculous. I think that assuming "amiga operating system" means "os5", and "its amiga inc + ack vs hyperion + acube" is more ridiculous.

With this track-record you can't be surprised that people are very critical and sceptic towards everything you do.

I'm not concerned about the critical nature of people nor the scepticism at all. Frankly, the way I see the situation is that the released hardware will speak for itself. I don't have to explain, nor the time to explain, in any level of detail of how or why it will happen. It just will. Period.

Adam

Thanks for stopping by Adam. There are people who are seriously interested in what you have come up with for hardware. Personally, I was always more interested in the designs you talked about than any others. Hopefully we will all know soon.

@ackcontrls

Adam, I understand and respect your wish for your hardware to speak for itself, but I was wondering if you could clear up something else for the rest of us: the "Amiga Operating System" that was announced to run on your board: is that going to be OS4 by Hyperion and friends, or some other "Amiga Operating System" that Amiga Inc is sourcing from elsewhere?

Thanks. Darn thread's too long

Well, at least that removes a bunch of possible bad interpretations. Why can't Amiga Inc just come out and say these things?

Yes. The confusion would surely stem from:
http://amigaworld.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=3672
where it says "Hyperion's Amiga OS 4.0 operating system"

whereas Amiga Inc. says here:
http://www.amiga.com/news/?art=26
"the Amiga Operating System"

Surely this did not sound like the same thing to many readers here.

Again, lack of resources, lack of staffing, no communications department = unfathomable press releases.

my two cents: there is no chance that any hardware is coming out. What we have seen in the past decade is a type of geek ego culture, where people make a little stir with announcements. One side gets a little upset and counters with an announcement of their own. There is nothing real here. Announcements are the lack of product. ACK reminds me of Merlancia industries. This guy may want an OS 4 machine released, but what he wants more is attention. That's what 'email me campaigns' to determine 'demand' are all about. That isn't a business plan, it isn't a way of developing one either. If you all want to play around with this, go ahead, its none of my business, but do not ever send anyone money.
