I would like to hear rogue say something about this. Despite the fact that he is not employed by hyperion and rarely speaks of the standings between hyperion and amiga inc, he is our best source of information. he usually knows what is going on. maybe we can lure him here with some candy or something ?

Did Acube side with Hyperion or something?
[/Conspiracy/]

Ok. Going back to my happy place now.

Ok, Finally some news. Like wegster said..."I believe it when i see it."
And which OS did they state they are going to use ? I did not read OS4
anywhere.

Expect that to be delayed 2-6 months the least.

PS. What about SAM then ? I'd expect that's the next news item to appear
shortly because they already said their hardware design is ready.
It can't be that hard to get a licence, or what do y ou say Amiga Inc ?

@Manu

Unfortunately that is true most of the time. It would also be a nice surprise if they could actually manage that next week because that would mean they did their homework.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think that you wouldn't need a license to build an addon/accelerator for classic systems with an os < 4... so i'd assume they're talking about an OS >= 4

Wow! this was pretty unexpected!

But maybe we'll hopefully see more licenses hand out after this.

Let's just wait and see first. The past 2 years in the Amiga world I have only seen announcements as a reaction to a negative mood or to put a news item against some other news item. None of the things that were ever discussed in those news items actually resulted in anything. For now I don't believe anything.

Those are also my thoughts.

Genesi is no longer interested in Amiga, so Bill needed another enemy to play with?

I wouldn't be surprised if this is Amiga Inc's way of snubbing the more professional and ready for mass production product that is the Sam440EP. It would be just like them to back the flakey hardware (no proof yet that it is - just conjecture) in order to assure failure

Elvis might have a better chance! I'm really nervous when I read this announcement. Ack has a long history of unreliably and last minute excuses, it doesn't give me any satisfaction saying that but these are the facts Please Ack more information and definitive proof soon!!!

I sincerely hope Acube has also been granted a licence, (1) the hardware is ready now and (2) we know they will deliver.

Maybe they prefer ACK as they are smaller company that is easier to bully/buy out without to much hassle?
