Didn't you just say that it was all hot air? You believe it's vapor, right? That said, is there any real point to you asking the question above?

From the Amiga.com announcement: "Manufacturing and final price information along with product launch schedules will be following in the next week."

I think I'll wait until next week is over before wasting any mental energy on this.

@wegster, I bet Adam has a very good reason for the criticism you mention. Good to see at least the aw.net staff is keeping the spirit up ... Hmmm ..

Sorry, sometimes it's time to see reality, and not simply be a blind cheerleader.
The past speaks for itself, and I've listed enough reasons to be sceptical. Everyone can make a mistake, but in some cases it simply becomes a pattern, one people come to expect.

I hope someone does bring out new hardware, and available for OS4. If it's Adam, then I hope he clears up the 'past,' including returning people's boards, any money owed to jens (if it is owed), and we'll go from there. He can certainly do some things to clean up his reputation if he chooses to do so at this point. I don't doubt his technical skills, and find him to be a decent guy when chatting, but that isn't the same thing as 'doing the right thing' or 'producing product.'

More grist for the rumor mill, straight outa Amiga, Inc.:

Quote:

What follows is an e-mail received from Bill McEwen, CEO, Amiga Inc addressed to all Amiga dealers in regards to preparations for release of the newly announced Amiga computers.

While we don't normally print e-mails, this was sent via the Press mailing list, so one can only presume it was intended for public dissemination.

Hello Amiga Dealers:

As mentioned in the press release we are in the final stages with the design of new hardware and getting them into production. Something that will be different than what happened with the AmigaOne is that we will be purchasing these new machines in the more than 1,000 units per order. This will allow us to get better pricing and quality for all of you. The specs for the sub 500.00 machines will be out on Monday and the more expensive machine the following week. Production will begin soon and they will be ready this summer. More details and final specs and timing will follow.

On another note, we have had a very strange request about sales that
occurred from 1996 through 2000 regarding Amiga computers. Now I understand based on the documentation that we have here that the machines were purchased primarily from Petro at Amiga International.

What I need to know is how many of you would still have copies of invoices or other documentation that shows you purchasing this hardware and any all possible advertisements or promotional materials that you may have received at this time. We seem to have an issue with regard to the actual facts that machines were purchased during those years, and we are limited in the materials that we have here for those years. If you have any information or documents that meet this criteria then please let me know as soon as possible.

Bill McEwen

If true, the last 2 paragraphs are quite strange - they seem to want to be able to prove that Amigas were sold during the Petro era (i.e. before Amiga Inc as we know it). Is this for legal or accounting reasons? I suspect legal, but why? Anyone got a decent theory?

@ironfist who saidQuote:
The way you have handled your PR has so far been worse than
most other companies in the history of man-kind.. Why didn't you
show up at the two demos you were supposed to do last summer?
Did you say something to those who actually showed up? Did you
tell then that you were sorry?

Quote:
I am not harassing ACK. Not at all. But he is a public
figure in the community. Much like a politician and
they must be able to handle criticism and scepticism.

Well, perhaps "harass" was too strong a word, but aggressively jumping on him as soon as he appears to announce some progress, after 6 (?) months of silence, does not seem like a good strategy for getting him to continue posting.

Anyway, he's given a partial & indirect answer here. I'm not saying I believe it, but it's likely the best you're going to get. Sadly it doesn't really explain why he ignored Jens about those connectors he ordered, but that's not really any our business either...

Most certainly McEwen wants to do a lawsuit.

My question is...

What would be the point really??
