Amigaworld urgently needs donations/sponsorship/banner ads |
| Amigaworld.net News posted by _Steve_ on 28-Mar-2007 10:40:21 (9173 reads) |
Unfortunately the site no longer has a main sponsor as you can see from the left banner at the top of the site. This paid for the bulk of the dedicated server costs which are due on the 21st July. We were hoping that someone would sponsor the site when the previous sponsors banner expired, but so far this hasn't happened.
If you would like to sponsor the site for 6 or 12 months or advertise click this link http://amigaworld.net/advertising/
If you would like to donate please use the PayPal donate button at the top right of this site.

DiscreetFX Sponsers a Retro Amiga Game Creation Contest starring "Hottie™ |
| Announcement posted by DiscreetFX on 23-Mar-2007 10:39:32 (7387 reads) |
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DiscreetFX Sponsers a Retro Amiga Game Creation Contest starring "Hottie™"
Chicago, Illinois – March 23rd, 2007 -- Visual FX company DiscreetFX LLC Inc., offers $1000 to the developer or team that can create a three level demo of a platform game starring Hottie, in the classic gaming style of Arabian Nights, Shadow of the Beast, Nicky Boom, Zool, etc.
"I have noticed game development for Amiga has seemed to stagnant and want to help change that, stated DiscreetFX's CEO. So begins a fun contest to sharpen your Amiga game creation coding skills. The three level demo you create will need to run on classic Amiga's and WinUAE/E-UAE/PSPUAE. We don't care so much if it is AGA or Amiga 500 specific. We care more of the quality and polish that will go into the demo. The game will need to star "Hottie", DiscreetFX's leading virtual character. Links to her image can be found here. Link to image Runner up prizes will also be offered and the winner will get a chance to complete the game and release it on Amiga OS 4.0, MorphOS, AROS, and other gaming systems. More information will be available on the following site in the next week.

Two new updates for users of Hollywood 2.5 and Hollywood Designer 2.0 are now available in the restricted area for customers on the Airsoft Softwair homepage. With these two updates it is now possible to use different charsets than ISO 8859-1 with Hollywood as well. This allows you for example to use Eastern European charsets with Hollywood. Furthermore, some bugs have been fixed and it is now possible to quit Hollywood without problems from a CLI using CTRL-C.
