AltiVec-enabled distributed.net Client released |
| Software News posted by Futaura on 31-Aug-2004 17:16:04 (8312 reads) |
I'm pleased to announce the initial release of a fully (RC5-72 and OGR-P2) AltiVec-enabled build (494b) of the distributed.net client for AmigaOS 4.0 which is now available from the usual place: http://www.distributed.net/download/prerelease.php
To be able to use the AltiVec cores, you'll obviously need a G4, and more importantly kernel 51.12 (previous kernels do not have working AltiVec support). Of course, this client will work ok on non-AltiVec cpus too, for which the usual scalar cores will be used as before.

On VooDooAmiga NEWS you can read an interview with Andrija Antonijevic (author of HTTPResume, Charon, AmiSSL). The interview is available in Croatian, English and German languages.
"I'm working on several things at the moment: OS4 version of AmiSSL, AmiPDF - a PDF viewer built on XPDF core, a new port of Ghostscript 8 and also on AmiGS which is a front-end for Ghostscript and is used to display Postscript and other files that Ghostscript is able to show."

Two new µ-A1's models on the way! |
| hardware OS4 posted by DaveyD on 28-Aug-2004 15:24:23 (16580 reads) |
µ-A1 scheduled for release 1st October 2004.
When we first showed pictures of the µ-A1 last October it was of the first of a series of pre-production versions. Each successive version made was designed to make sure that the final specification of the pre-production product suited the needs of both Amigians and, particularly, large volume industrial customers. We used the pre-production prototypes to gain feedback from a range of such potential customers to ensure that the specification and reliability of the µ-A1 met or exceeded their needs and therefore would ensure the commercial success of the product. That process is now complete.

Andrzej Bugajny asked us to release a patch for graphic boards for Exodus. The game should run faster with it. However 100MB of harddrive space is needed for it.
Exodus can be obtained from the Amiga dealers or directly from Andrzej Bugajny (slandsales@go2.pl).
