What do you mean, white and blue ? Nothing there, not even a disk icon ? You have to re-attach your picasso settings, that's why it's not your usual screenmode. _________________ Thomas, the kernel guy

Nope.
I've sorted it !!
phew, WHAT A headache
I noticed in the on screen blurb on switch on that Uboot was not listing the onboard ide dvdrw at all ? ( Well it works !!)
Only the hard drives which are on the Sil card.
So I grabbed an ide lead from box of spares and plugged cd (dvdrw) into secondary sil port.
Diskboot 500000 2:0
Success.
Reboot.
Bus 0 .........................................................................
no slb found blah blah blah.
Aaaaaaargh. (hang on, i recall people talking about this)
switch off and replug cd into onboard IDE while we're at it.
Finally get into Uboot (after much ado) and alter Multiboot options to Sil Paralell.
Success.
NOW for the update Os !! _________________ ****************************************** I dont suffer from Insanity - I enjoy it

Ahem, quoting from the README:
-- SNIP -- To re-attach the settings, start Picasso96Mode, press the menu button, and select your graphics card from the “Attach Settings To” menu. Save your settings afterwards, and reboot. -- SNIP --
I think this is quite clear, isn't it? _________________ Seriously, if you want to contact me do not bother sending me a PM here. Write me a mail

| How do I boot a CD that's connected to a Sil card again? I can't recall how I got this to work. I could connect it to an IDE port on the A1 mobo but I don't want to because I've had it booting before.
Cheers, FuZion.

| Does anyone know if the new update will work with the Mobility Radeon 7500? (PCI ID 0x1002:0x4c57)? I have a 9800 I can use to install the new update, but I need to put it back in my PC so I can do my work...
Edit: The reason I'm asking is that that card will is not recognized by Pre2. This is the serial output from uboot:

| Quite a pleasant surprise. I'd been under the impression that it was due out in the middle of "next" week, not this one.
Thanks to all developers and beta testers working on AOS4.
BTW, I've moved my dvd burner back to the Sil0680 card. It's seen by MediaToolBox, but even though I've edited the ToolTypes for DVD+RW and CDRW to DEVICE=sil0680ide.device and UNIT=3 (it's new location as a slave rather than master), it doesn't seem to mount.
I'll read through the entire discussion before I complain though. Probably something else I have to change that I haven't noticed.

In the boot options menu, select "Amiga Multiboot" (should already be selected), then go to "Amig Multiboot options" and select "SII parallel CDROM" or "SII serial CDROM", depending on whether you have the CDROM hooked to a ATA or SATA SII controller, respectively.
Then press ESC (until the main menu appears), and press ESC again, and select "Use settings for this session only".
Alternatively, when the progress bar appears, press ENTER and select the boot source directly (like above). _________________ Thomas, the kernel guy

Ok, this is getting very frustrating. I've had to reinstall updates 1 and 3 a number of times now, and no matter which P96Mode and WBScreen settings I choose I get the WBScreen resolution I've choosen, but the WBScreen hangs at the point where it's blank before the icons and menu appears. No matter how long I wait the regular WB never appears. I'm now definitely out of clues as to what may be wrong. _________________ -- -=#Val#=- Valiant@Camelot

| I got a blank screen too...
I managed to sort it out by reinstalling from the CD doing a pre-release 3 but without chaning any of the scripts, still comes up looking 'orrible but at least you can change it back in prefs.
Not impressed to be honest, and less so in telling people to "RTFM" to fix the problems when they're sitting in fron of grey screen with nothing to change.
I've got it working now, but I couldn't imagine Microsoft making that big a coc, no hang on, yes I could. _________________ Rage quited 29th May 2011

So, the screen openes, but the workbench freezes at that time, no icons, nothing ?
We had a bug like this some time ago, but it was fixed. It was only happening on the Radeon and only when the prefs changed, i.e. you change GUI prefs, and the workbench closes. It wouldn't open anymore.
Did you do a complete re-install, i.e. clean the system disk, install from the CD, and then install update 3 ?
If yes, what hardware do you have in your machine (graphics card, sound card, ide controller) ?
Do you have the etherne in use ?
Also, please check if the MD5 sum matches that on the webpage... maybe the archive is somehow corrupted ?
Finally, please try to boot without startup sequence by pressing both mouse buttons or help on the keyboard (PS/2 only at the moment, sorry). If you can do that, disable WBStartup ("rename WBstartup WBStartup.off") and try again.
If you didn't do a complete re-install, make sure you don't have any old software in "unusual" places. For example, you might have dragged a commodity to wbstartup or similar.
If that still doesn't give a hint on your problem, please contact me in private mail (ThomasF@hyperion-entertainment.biz), that's easier than picking out your posts from here. _________________ Thomas, the kernel guy

You should RTFM _BEFORE_ isntalling the update. And sorry, we try our best to help you out when you have problems, but if you have problems because you didn't read the documentation, it's your fault.
