Is my Radeon 9200 SE either of those families?

This brings up the subject of alternate video cards on the micro A1. The way I understand it, you can only use the build-in video. Am I wrong?

Also, somebody should make more AmigaOnes with a faster CPU. It's the only hardware licensed for OS4.

Eyetech were the only ones to hold such a licence.

Congradulations! Stout hearts to work under all the negative rumours and legal tumours. I'd offer the team a harty slap on the back for their determination, but with the lineup you'd all wind up bruised. So just a tip of the hat and three cheers, bring on the future!

@Swoop

R1xx = Radeon 7xxx. Technically the Radeon 7500 is called Rv200, but that is a bit of a strange naming since it is an R100 in every aspect.

R2xx = Radeon 8500, 90xx, 91xx, 92xx, although I still have trouble with the Radeon 8500 for God knows what reason (it draws, but the coordinates get totally garbled).

So yeah, your Radeon 9200 SE is a R2xx model.

I have successfully used a PCI card from within U-Boot. If I boot into AmigaOS and try to activate the PCI card, it locks up. The problem is I don't have any clue as to what is happening, and there is no one left at MAI whom I could ask.

Excuse my ignorance. But I gather this means that there was nothing in the following document (or others that were offered in threads on AW) that offered any assistance?

This is great news.

I hope that soon all of us will be able to enjoy the hard work of AOS4 developers.

I hate to say it, but the new UI looks awful... why round the top corners and push in the window close/expand/minimize widgets as well as make them smaller?

I don't really know what you mean with "imba", but this was mostly to show what the new OS can do. As such, the screenshots do exactly that I think. The look is not customized at all because it is supposed to show what things look like after a standard installation. I could make it look like MacOS X, but what is the point?

OK, now you really scared me. I guess it is hard to get on board some gui designer/ gui usability expert who would take care about all the gui aspects, which is not the right role for coder in most cases.

Gui customizing is nice feature people around Amiga like a lot but the other big group of people (incl majority of new users of the system [are there any?]) will not change the look and keep the default. Also many application are build in default look of the os in mind and can look really bad after theme change. So I agree make it look like OS X has no sense, after all it is AmigaOS.

Thats why the default look should represent the system and show the best.
Argument users can customize it anyway is not the right one.

@AmigaMac

Why do ppl keep complaining about the looks of windows & gadgets?

Everything about the looks of WB can be changed to suit your own tastes. I'm quite sure if you were to select/make a theme, it would be quite possible that me & others would not like it as well.

I have to say that came as a great, but pleasant surprise! Way to go, Hyperion! You rule!

I especially love all the features, but 2 great bonus (of course, all the new features are!) are especially the round corners of the windows and of course the brand new JXFS-filesystem - the fastest and most robust Amiga filesystem ever existed! Thank you for that, Hyperion!

My oh my, i have to say that Hyperion had excellent secrets cards hidden, until now that is..
I guess that OpenGL is underway, too..or already included in AmigaOS 4.1?

Does this mean that Hyperion has won the rights for AmigaOS? Is the trial finally over?

I don't like it either. Close/depth/minimize gadgets should be closer to the edges. And if there's any rounded corners, all corners should be rounded or not any of them.

I was hopeing for something more "glossy" looking. But I can always change the theme.

I agree with this.

The same problem occurs on a "fixed" XE. I don't know what that fix really entails, I should maybe have a look at that. I'll have a look at that link you posted once I have some time.
