@EntilZha

Thanks for that (The Sil CD boot thing).

I got the CD booting but unfortunately my monitor has been playing up for a while. It seems to be losing it's marbles... I mean, losing it's frequency ranges. The screen frequency that the OS4 CD boots at gives me a warped screen which gets gradually worse & after about 5 seconds, the monitor clicks itself off. The monitor used to work with the boot CD. Not the fault of OS4 in any way. Other frequency ranges work fine.

So, I installed straight from my Pre Release 2 installation & after attaching my GFX card & setting the screenmode, OS4 has booted up no probs. I do need to sort my monitor out, but at least it's running.

THANKS TO ALL THE HYPERION TEAM & THE BETA TESTERS AROUND THE WORLD!!!

Now. What would people suggest testing out to see the new stuff in action?

FuZion.

"Should have read the Manual before installing"

You install, it's got a blank screen with no mouse, no icons and no button does anything, just how exactly does knowing that to fix it you have to delete certain files, replacing them with certain files etc. help?

I *think* It may have gone wrong because my firmware is not be the lastist version, I'm still fiddling around and I have got it (mostly) installed, and I like what I see,

I'll try and get back to you if I have time to do a fresh reinstall on an empty partition, and other fiddles.

PS I once did a "windows update" for a Network card driver on a server, never again, intermettent problems are such fun to fix...!

It should already work.

Do you have a parallel printer, or USB ?

Have A HP LaserJet 5 connected to the Par port. If I disable Turboprint and print using the Workbench drivers, all is OK with AmiPDF.
This is the error given, ***Command 'Ghostscript:gs' returned with unfreed signals 60000000!

All other Programmes print fine with TurboPrint 5.02 .

Thanks for the QUICK response

Cheers,
Tim

Make sure you have the correct version of UBoot installed as well as stated in the README file.

The minimum requirements for UBoot are right there in the README file.

I ran into the same problem myself during beta testing and we added that into the README file. Read it again. And again. Then read it again. One more time.

For those of you who boot into WB "half-way" where you get no icons, try this:

boot without startup-sequence (by holding down both mouse buttons during startup) and when the CLI appears, type "execute startup-sequence". For me, wb came up nicely after that and I could attach my settings to the voodoo board.

It's ok. My wife picked "The Titanic" out of the dvd cabinet. So you should not complain so much.

Well I liked Titanic I have seen it two times from big screen. First time was in cinema here in Finland. Second time was more fun though I was in Marmaris, Turkey, at that time. One night there was a big screen on beach and they were showing Titanic there. There was just me and couple of nice girls sitting on dark beach and watching it

PowerAmiga2002, TrevorDick, Rob, me, all have the same problem:

http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=13064&forum=14&start=0&viewmode=flat&order=0

That of not reading the Fine Manual, no, of this nasty grey screen thingy, only 4 users but that's quite a lot consdering how few people would have installed it, and got on line!

Still never mind we can always blame the users huh? That'll do us good in building up a user base?

Still I'll try and be constructive, 1.1.1 is not the lastest firmware update, that wasn't in the fine Manual, it should be.

I took this opportunity to install and switch over to a SII parallel controller card from the on board via one. Seems to be going OK. But when booting, after it tells me I have no Catweasel, it says BUS 0: ....................... and takes a while then says timeout and boots. My question to any that may know: How and where do I kill this BUS 0 scan, or shorten it if I cannot cancel it all together?

But it is on the website, which presumably you read before downloading the update? UBoot revisions have always been known by their release date.

@Stephen_Robinson

Don't forget that you are not using finished product.

It's the same with eg. Linux. if you decide to use "unstable" Linux releases, you have access to latest stuff, but then you have to take a risk that something might be broken, there might be incompatibility problems, installation and configuration might be harder than normally, documentation might not be uptodate. If you use "unstable" Linux version you accept it that you are using "beta" or development version.

okey "1.1.1 is not the March update." This should be in the fine manual.

I bought my Amiga One after March, I am therefore unsure as to what version I have, apart from it being 1.1.1.

I am not psychic.

I had UBoot updated as soon as it came out because frankly I was expecting Update 3 to be available in a few weeks. Anyway I think I have the problem narrowed down somewhat. Thanks to an idea from Stephen I commented out the line that executes the User-Startup in Startup-Sequence. Except for a complaint from GoldEd about not finding an assign everything booted up fine. So I then commented everything out in User-Startup except for what's needed to setup MUI and everything still boots up fine. So some line in User-Startup is hanging the system.

My problem now is that something has happened to my Internet connection; I can't ping anything beyound my router. I've even tried rerunning the Wizard to setup a new connection, but that hasn't helped. Since I don't think that it's related to the Update 3 install, I'll probably start another thread about that problem.

Looks like you forgot to change the "ide" variable in uboot to "sii" iirc.
setenv ide sii
saveenv

(doing the above from memory.. I seem to recall it being "sii")
