Actually, this is the way the installation document suggests. _________________ Thomas, the kernel guy

If you can, attach a serial terminal. It should output the crash info to the serial port as well. _________________ Seriously, if you want to contact me do not bother sending me a PM here. Write me a mail

Well it's gone now anyway. If I feel like it I might have a terminal open 24/365 to catch a random crash.
(Or hyperion could implement storing the log automatically on the drive instead of me having to have a terminal running all year long.)

| Main improvements can be noticed in Network (now SMBFS is a local drive..) and IDE transfer (for me that i fix my a1!). There are so many things that it is difficult to write them all.. A fantstic utility is UBoot in the Prefs that allow to modify all Uboot parameters from the WB.. mmm.. Unarc... FAAAAAAASTTTTTTT (finally..)

| Cool!
Something to tinker with tonight, methinks.
Thanks guys! Now that we'll all be content for a week or two before the "Update #4" threads start popping up, you should reward yourselves with going outside and catching a glimpse of the sun.
Full speed on CD-transfers I gather, yay! Might as well get back to converting my CD-collection to MP3's then..
Now, with this update, will there be a big green button that makes the computer walk over to my cd-rack and then physically changes the cd's in the drives, or will I still have to move my ass halfway across the room and do it myself as with the second update? _________________

Something like that was planned, and might still come. The critical point is to avoid invalidating the harddisk in case of a severe crash, which would mean you have a circular file buffer that never grows... _________________ Seriously, if you want to contact me do not bother sending me a PM here. [EDIT] Oh, others already answered to this, I was a bit slow
You could hook another computer to serial port as a terminal, and use it to watch/save Grimreaper logs. Then you might be able to save the log even if input.device crashes.Last edited by miksuh on 14-Jun-2005 at 02:14 PM. Last edited by miksuh on 14-Jun-2005 at 02:12 PM.

You can actually re-route the debug console from serial output to a circular memory buffer. Have a look at the documentation for KDebug and DumpDebugBuffer _________________ Thomas, the kernel guy

There won't be an update 4. This is the last before release. _________________ Thomas, the kernel guy

These versions don't include hardware renderers. You can use, them, of course, they just won't be accelerated.
I can't say when updates will be available. _________________ Thomas, the kernel guy
