| It's up to the community to create the polls. This is what you want it to be. _________________ Leo Nigro, CTO Commodore USA, LLC Opinions expressed are my own and not those of C= USA. Commodore/AMIGA "Beautiful, High-Performance, Home Computers for Creativity and Entertainment."

In other words, we first figure out what we want, trying to keep it sane, and then you try to get the rights for whatever that requires, using the community's decision to back you up in the negotiations. That way you only need to negotiate with one definite party instead of all the maybes. Sounds fair enough. |

While that would be pretty cool, after many missed deadlines I've come to accept that Natami will be done when it's done. It's a labor of love not a business proposition. |

| Interesting idea, although the the first 500 customers will really need to overpay a bit to make it financially feasible.
What I expect most here would want is an affordable desktop running AOS4. But to do that, that means a PPC, which probably means it may not be so affordable nor speedy. Still... it could be done reasonably priced, I think.
What I personally would like to see is...
FPGA arcade or A/Clone (Jens ever finish it?)... turned into an Amiga on a chip, then turned into a mini games system/pc, priced at the same level as other retro systems (Atari Flashback, etc). But doing such a small initial run will make it impossible to do inexpensively. Plus side is, no need for AOS4, just use your existing license to 1-3. Downside is, it costs a fortune to turn a FPGA into a mass market chip. Last edited by Nameless on 20-Dec-2011 at 03:35 AM.

| I would like to see these products:
(1) An inexpensive and powerful (multi-core) PPC motherboard which can be used with AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, and Linux. (2) Polished AROS which can run Classic Amiga, MorphOS, and AmigaOS 4 programs transparently. (3) An inexpensive C-One or similar board with the following cores: Amiga (OCS, ECS, and AGA), PET, Vic-20, C64, C16/Plus 4, and C128. |

| Get OS4, MorphOS, AROS, and 68K developers to come together to develop a unified OS that you can ship on your product. _________________ AmigaOS 4.x Beta Tester - Classic Amiga enthusiast - http://www.hd-zone.com is my Amiga Blog, check it out!

| @jap Pick the most likely. Get a majority of people to agree with you. We'll do the costing. We'll do whatever deals are required to make it happen. If you agree to the costs., then put your money in an escrow account. When it reaches 500 customers. We'll start the project. If it's not completed in 6 months, you can get a full refund. We only see the money at the end. _________________ Leo Nigro, CTO Commodore USA, LLC Opinions expressed are my own and not those of C= USA. | Time to do some polls? First decide what kind of case, then what kind of OS (one of them, several, all), what kind of hardware and so on. One poll for each. That should be all that is required and fair? Make as many as possible vote (announce on other Amiga-sites). |

| Explain how splitting the development manufacture and delivery cost of an entirely new system between 500+ could come in better or cheaper than say the X1000 or SAM? Also what incentive is there for those 500+ to chose Cusa over current or potiential choices like X1000, SAM, FPGArcade or Natami?

| @Plaz If you want the Commodore AMIGA brand on those products. Otherwise, nobody is stopping you from buying those products. CUSA has been able to get a custom product to market fairly quickly. We learned a lot in the process, and I think that experience could enable us deliver on new products quickly. You just have to choose. It doesn't have to be today....or tomorrow..... Discuss it...mull it over....do polls... Refine exactly what you want..... Then we'll do the negotiations and costing. At the very least we'll find out what is possible and what isn't, and more importantly, why. _________________ Leo Nigro, CTO Commodore USA, LLC Opinions expressed are my own and not those of C= USA. | Those custom designs aren't bad, although I wonder how much they'd cost.
What happened to the original idea of super expensive Amiga's in those cases that looked like microwave ovens? The ones where the cases alone were like $1000?
Not suggesting you use those, just wondering where CUSA is going.
My preference is to go white for towers, and black for horizontal designs, but that just me. Sort of sick of seeing every single tower come in black. |

Ok, after some more thought... As a minimum: (2 points added, 1 edited)
* I wish this new "Commodore AMIGA" must have/support/ship-with all the three Amiga-NG-OSes AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS.
* Must at least run/ship-with OS4 or an OS (partly) derived from it - with the name AmigaOS or Amiga OS. Its version could be 4, 5 or whatever.
* Personally I don't care much which CPU, be it PPC, x32/x64, ARM or k68.
* And point 14 must stop (at latest) when the product is shipping.
Then you might have me as a customer.

Not as expensive as some of the other designs people are coming up with. There's a reason why they are designed that way. _________________ Leo Nigro, CTO Commodore USA, LLC Opinions expressed are my own and not those of C= USA. I must admit I am very partial to the idea of Hyperion developing AmigaOS and Commodore USA as the hardware and enclosure vendor.
I personally don't care if AmigaOS 4.x ran on PPC or X86 architecture, however I would like it if it were on cheaper hardware.
If Hyperions reasons were not simply compatibility with classic software and was more about cost, marketing and resources for not porting AmigaOS4.x to x86 architecture. Then I would much prefer Commodore USA partner or invest in the development and porting of AmigaOS4.x to x86 architecture and assist in the expenses of marketing and distribution of AmigaOS4.x with Hyperion. _________________ Amiga A1200T - TF1260 - R9200 - Indivision AGA MK3 Amiga A500 - PiStorm EMU68 Pegasos 2 G4 - AmigaOS 4.1 FE / MorphOS 3.16

| There are zero possibility that Hyperion will switch to x86, almost not now neither next year os so ...
So if C=USA really want to support the real Amiga world they must take the necessary agreements and then produce a suitable PowerPC hardware, otherwise no thanks .. _________________ BACK FOR THE FUTURE

Yeah I know what you mean, everyone knows it is feasible but subject to co-operation
I sincerely hope at least some conversation will happen amongst the powers that be and CUSA.
I know many disagree but I believe x86 architecture is AmigaOS undiscovered country. _________________ Amiga A1200T - TF1260 - R9200 - Indivision AGA MK3 Amiga A500 - PiStorm EMU68 Pegasos 2 G4 - AmigaOS 4.1 FE / MorphOS 3.16
