Commodore USA has a final challenge for this community that could enable them to have a new Commodore AMIGA with absolutely any of the features they want. We are serious about this, and we hope you will also take this offer seriously too, and contribute positively to the fruition of the Commodore AMIGA dream. Allow me to outline our final challenge to the community, and how we can work together towards a unifying goal. I have a list of obligations for the parties.
1. The community must definitively decide, through polls or whatever, what exactly it wants a Commodore AMIGA from Commodore USA to be. 2. Commodore USA will build and/or sell all product/s that will bear the official Commodore AMIGA brand. 3. Commodore USA will sell the first batch of a particular product AT (THEIR) COST to pre-paid customers only. 4. A minimum of 500 customers must pre-pay the entire amount in an independent account at a trusted institution (at the community's discretion) for the project to begin. 5. Commodore USA will negotiate for all required technology, be it software or hardware, and such costs will be divided by the amount of customers in the initial batch. So the more that join in, the lower the overall cost. 6. Commodore USA will outline all the costs, in as much detail as they are able to, before any customers make payment. 7. Commodore USA is ONLY paid on completion of the work to the satisfaction of the 500+ first batch customers, when the final product is ready to ship. 8. On project commencement, Commodore USA will provide monthly project updates until completion. 9. If Commodore USA does not perform the required work in 6 months of the project commencement date, then the 500+ customers have the option to withdraw immediately for a full refund of their prepayment. 10. Commodore USA reserve the right to affix a margin, at their discretion, to future sales of the product/s, past the initial batch. 11. The community will nominate two independent representatives or leaders who will liaise more closely with Commodore USA and report back to the community. 12. Sometimes negotiations require an NDA, that would limit public consumption of exact costs. In such circumstances that an NDA is required, the two nominated representatives of the community, who will also be under NDA, can independently verify such costs. 13. There will be no advertising of the product or its components by Commodore USA until project commencement. 14. In the meantime, Commodore USA will potentially continue with its current x86 based Commodore AMIGA plans, that will co-exist with the community's desired Commodore AMIGA branded product/s.
Warmest Regards, Leo Nigro Chief Technology Officer Commodore USA, LLC lan@commodoreusa.net www.CommodoreUSA.net |

| Hi Everyone,
Oh, please make the bad Amiga Inc go away! Truthfully Commodore died when they went bankrupt. Everything now is just some license skeem to put x86 motherboards in ugly commodore cases (Check out what they said about this on osnews.com when Commodore usa started).
I can only speak for myself, when I say my money, (I have purchased over 6 Amigas in my lifetime, New models and classics) will be spent on the AmigaOne Line. I am going to be getting an AmigaOne 500 to replace my AmigaOne XE and after that, I am going to get an AmigaOne X1000.
What can CommodoreUSA do for me, nothing. Commodore is best left in the past as a memory.

| MikeJ's FPGA Arcade already has 20 beta-boards out there (I have one). The next batch of 50 is already sold out. His next batch of 200 is almost gone (and he still hasn't shipped all of the first 50). Those boards are just to core developers and Amiga users on AO and AW. That 270 boards without even trying, and they all need cases. Mike's next batch could easily be 1000, 2000, 10000, etc... all of which would need a nice case.
We're too late for Xmas now, but imagine a "Commodore Amiga FPGA1200" ready for next Xmas. Mike's board in Barry's case and mass marketed to the serious Amiga user looking for a replacement machine that acts just like a real Amiga, the home "gamer" looking for a retro console that plays just like he remembered from his childhood and a product capable of becoming a VIC-20, C-64, C-128, ATARI ST and even any number of classic game consoles (Defender, Galaxians, Asteroids, Pheonix, etc).
Now imagine the C-USA shop selling these different cores legally and online along with ADF games, HDF files.
Now think of the expansion cards... Jaqube is already putting the finishing touches to his 68060 card which even unpopulated will add extra HD options, extra RAM, ethernet, etc.
Food for thought... Last edited by Darrin on 20-Dec-2011 at 12:31 AM.

| In the previous post - A challenging question from CUSA - several people suggested the best thing CUSA could do is produce cases for OS3 &/or OS4 machines. They are clearly not interested in this - obviously there wouldn't be a massive demand but still that is what was suggested. An official Amiga 1200T case with identical case badge design & very similar appearance to an A4000 Desktop would have appealed to some.
Unless they can magically produce powerful & cheap OS4 hardware, suggesting producing another Amiga model right now is not great timing. We have AmigaOne500, AmigaOne X1000 around the corner & a netbook on the way. AROS or MOS machine isn't an option from what I understand; even if it was it wouldn't be a positive one IMHO. You asked the same question a few days ago and people gave you their answers. I think you should at least present to us what you think you can realistically offer to the community before you can expect things to go any further.
Their is no point in us setting up a poll asking if people would buy option X if Barry isn't even prepared to go down the route of option X. |

| How about Amiga Anywhere the hardware agnostic OS finally developed into something that is released on real hardware. It could be a phone or a tablet... which would then make it VERY attractive price wise as both those items are cheap enough to be a disposable item for most of us.
Alternatively the Nataami concept is a good idea... albeit a bit retro.
I'd be willing to stump up cash for either of those up front.
It's an interesting proposal... and worth discussing.

| It would probably be best to pick something that 500 people would realistically be prepared to pay for. Let us worry about what is required to get it done. We'll explain the costs.....before proceeding....and before anyone sends any money anywhere. _________________ Leo Nigro, CTO Commodore USA, LLC Opinions expressed are my own and not those of C= USA. Challenging... OK, I'll give a shot...
So, as a minimum:
* I wish this new "Commodore AMIGA" must have/support/ship-with all the three Amiga-NG-OSes AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS.
* Must at least run/ship-with OS4 or an OS (partly) derived from it - with the name AmigaOS or Amiga OS.
* Personally don't care much which CPU, be it PPC, x32/x64, ARM or k68.
* And 14 must stop.
Then you might have me as a customer.

Nice ideas, along what I would like to see for new Classic cases.
One thing though (and don't take this the wrong way), those are some of the worst Photoshop jobs I've ever seen and it distracts from the overall look. _________________ AmigaOne X1000, A4000(T), A3000, A2000, A1200(T), A1200, A500, CD32, Minimig+ARM, FPGA Arcade, Chameleon64, C-One, C128, C128D, C64C, C64, VIC-20, CBM 8032, CBM4032, Efika, Ultimate64

Yes, things are rolling along well. Here's a link to his website. He's just had a delivery of the optional I/O shield.

| i think the best way is to develop an emulator able to run AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS. An emulator that run only on Commodore Amiga product in excluive way. No other x86 product or other x86 can run this emulator, but only yuor machines. Commodore USA product are able to emulate G4 without problems.
A legal emulator of course with the approval of Hyperion and MOS-Team. _________________

The keyboard sucks. I'd like too see something that looks more durable. An Amiga keyboard would need to have led built into the keycap for CAPS, NUM and SCROLL lock.
The tower cases are uninteresting.
I like the smaller DVD Player type case. I have a similar case 2" high and it has an inbuilt 200w PSU and I have a Radon 4670 in there. Don't cripple such a design by not including an expansion bracket like you did with the C64x. |

| It is very simple specification: something which is about € 300 and it runs on OS4 and MOS.
Technically, the production of a simpler to a PPC processor can be plugged into an x86 motherboard.
This solution is much more paperwork involved to agree on every IP owner. _________________ My first prototype game. Current work on this!

If they contracted Hyperion and the makers of the SAM and X1000 then they could. Of course that would mean the who community pulling together and forming a relationship based on trust. _________________ AmigaOne X1000, A4000(T), A3000, A2000, A1200(T), A1200, A500, CD32, Minimig+ARM, FPGA Arcade, Chameleon64, C-One, C128, C128D, C64C, C64, VIC-20, CBM 8032, CBM4032, Efika, Ultimate64
